Ahram
Looking at some of the other He'Stan conversions got me thinking. I didn't like some of the Inquisition iconography but loved the use of the GK halberd. So, picking up my bitz box I started to work last night. What I had on hand 1 GK Halberd 1 Assault Marine Legs 1 Sgt Chest Front from the tact sprue 2 flamers 1 head 1 left bolter arm 1 Chaplain Xavier Cloak 1 pistol holster Green Stuff Too much time http://www.bhsc.org/pics/f1.jpghttp://www.bhsc.org/pics/r1.jpg This is the basic model. I added the pistol holster and assembled the body and GK weapon. Using a thin piece of green stuff, I carved in scales and added it to the front. I added the chain and two flat areas which will have hammer icons a little later. The purity seals are again green stuff, although looking the size of the seal this morning, I may pop it off and shrink it. Wolf89
I smiled when you posted you had 2 flamers to work with, can't wait to see how you combine stuff and the model fully finished. Great thought about xavier's cloak. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147802-hestan-conversion/#findComment-1715029 Share on other sites
Graypaint
The sculpted stuff looks petty doughey, you might want to try to use a bit less GS so that the details come out looking more sharp. Ahram
Gray, I'll take a look and see if I can't thin out the green stuff. I can see what you are talking about when looking at the seals, and I was thinking that they may be a little too thick, but when I have been staring at it for a few hours and those hours happen to be very early in the morning, my judgment is not all it should be ;) . I have already replaced one of them and it looks cleaner. Ahram
OK, I shrunk the purity seals and added scales to the halberd. The front fang is now on. The flamer gauntlet is a bolter arm, the missile launcher hand, 2 flamers, and green stuff hoses running under the shoulder pads. Attached to the bottom of the chain is a fang, created just by rolling green stuff to a point and using a knife to cut a small groove at the top to look like a clasp. I added raised hammers on the two flat circles holding the chains. This will give a depth to the hammers that will be painted on there later. http://www.bhsc.org/pics/l2.jpghttp://www.bhsc.org/pics/f2.jpg http://www.bhsc.org/pics/l22.jpghttp://www.bhsc.org/pics/t2.jpg http://www.bhsc.org/pics/b2.jpg Next will be the primed set and we can see if those green stuff mistakes actually show through. But first, beer and bad BBC shows await. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147802-hestan-conversion/#findComment-1715441 Share on other sites
Wolf89
oooohhh that heavy flamer arm looks really sweet, great job. I just love the tanks on the side like that, really cool. ^_^ Can't wait to see more. Ahram
All finished. Large pictures, I do not have gimp or PS here right now, so the pictures are quite large. Vassakov
Very nice conversion, my only comment would be that the flamer looks a little unwieldy compared to it's description in C:SM. Still, that's a personal view I have and shouldn't detract from what is an excellent model in it's own right. Ahram
Thanks for the feedback vassakov. I think the next project after my drop pods will be to model the arm out of the codex.
