gettothegone
I did post earlier that I would be working on Ravenguard, in the advent of my wife purchasing an air brush and compressor for me, its lead to experimenting with how it works... to find that you can paint pretty much any colour quickly over anything. So, instead of a black army, I'll do one of the most hated colours to paint with ever... yellow. lord_bunny
I think they don't work that way... You have to paint them, not command them  good luck, yellow makes me sad, try Iyanden Darksun foundation, great for a creamy bone or yellow. AlexCrute
Decided on a recipe yet? Lemme tell you it's crucial. Do test minis. You'll thank yourself. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147923-imperial-fist/#findComment-1716407 Share on other sites
gettothegone
Actually, its just a straight airbrush of Golden Yellow over a white undercoat, its worked out great on my test mini. I can post that up in a bit. Airbrushes are a fantastic solution to anyone having an issue with painting a difficult colour. I'll put up pics soon. gettothegone
20 of them. I've decided on going with a 3 Vindicator Army. These are to start. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0823.jpg I bore out the Bolters and such so they look a bit better http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0824.jpg No heads on the SGTs, since I do flesh heads for them, I like to paint them seperately. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0825.jpg Other SGT. I give them a true grit kind of look, but they count as having bolters, tho it does remind me to count them as having 2 attacks. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0826.jpg Right now I'm waiting on a new pin for my airbrush. My pet decided that the cord looked fun to play with, and ended up knocking my brush off the table, to land on a plate I had left on the floor.. so painting is delayed for a bit. Vindicators are in progress. Will post when complete. Decided go go with 3 of them instead of 2. Yes I could use Land Raiders, and I do have a Redeemer still in package. Call it a reward for when I get this done. I also have enough bits for 30 assault marines and another 10 regular marines.... I figure i'll get this army done sometime around 2019. gettothegone
I just reprimed them for the new airbrush head  I promise pics of airbrushing, and a guide. I also have some ideas for stencil fist insignias, as well as brushed flames on the vindicators. gettothegone
I promise to have paint shown by Sunday evening. Busy studying for CCNA this week, exam next thursday and such so getting down to " you shoulda been studying, but that new Space Marine Codex has been glued to your face since it came out, and your wife rolls her eyes every time you started to whine about the needle being broken" time. Sunday, promise paint. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/147923-imperial-fist/#findComment-1741970 Share on other sites
gettothegone
Test Rhino http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0828.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0829.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0830.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0831.jpg I need to find the proper consistency for paint, I tried a few marines but man that was epic fail. I did manage to get the rhino looking okay. I need better lighting. The rhino is a test model only. I'll go do a marine in a few minutes once they dry off from getting washed. I'll try a little bit thicker consistency of paint and a bit farther back from the spray. The rhino seemed to come out okay tho. gettothegone
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj289/miroz2/100_0836.jpg Test marines + an inked marine. I'm starting to think that it may be the paint thats screwy. I did a red model and there were no problems with coverage or spraying. The yellow seems to not want to be at the right consistency at all, no matter how I cut it with Tamiya Thinner or Water or both. TheDean
what yellow are you using? I was using a vallejo sun yellow and had to replace it with the GW equal and it made a massive difference.
