Brother Cassern
Here's my first who's really just a test scheme to get my colors down. I've two full units, a unit of Sternguard, an Assault Squad, my scratch-built Librarian ( to go with the Assault Squad ) and Pedro Kantor to paint. Really happy with how the blue turned out even if my highlighting is very half-assed. It's just a 1:2 ratio of VMC Dark Prussian Blue and VMC Royal Blue, highlighted with RMP True Blue and RMP Sky Blue as the final highlight. I primed white first but I think I could do this just as easily with black. I made the cardinal mistake of assembling him with his Bolter and have opted to leave them off of the rest of the models in the future -- my brush control isn't 100% accurate! http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e201/PicosMiniatures/CrimsonFist.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e201/PicosMiniatures/CrimsonFist2.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e201/PicosMiniatures/CrimsonFist3.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e201/PicosMiniatures/CrimsonFist4.jpg

homerjwho
Looks really good, nice neat colours. One thing though, isn't it only the CF veterans that get both fists red? I thought the rest had just the left hand.

I thought the rest had just the left hand. I didn't know there was that distinction. In all the artwork I've seen it's always both hands. Worse comes to worse I'll throw him in my Sternguard squad. wienas
According to the (original) fluff, having both red fists was to designate a Crusade Company. These days, it is used to designate veterans. I suppose you could imagine that all active Crusades were called back after the Rynn's World incident, and those marines became the 1st Company and other assorted Veterans.
