minigun762
2 questions I had about a potential Daemon Prince for an Iron Warriors army I'm working on 1) I don't know why I didn't think about this earlier, but the new Soul Grinder seems like a natural choice. A nice mix between organic and cybernetic. Kind of like a super verision of an Obliterator. Would the Soul Grinder model be appropriate you think? 2) Does it make sense that a marine could be promoted to Daemon Prince status without working for a particular god? I say this because often Iron Warriors are thought of as not the most devout marines. In Storm of Iron we see this happen, but there isn't clear evidence of 1 gods support or if it was just Chaos in general. Point is, do I need to mark my Prince to make it seem realistic? Bonus Question: I never played with Obliterators because I can't stand the model honestly. However would it be appropriate to use a Chaos Terminator model as the basis of a Obliterator? Do some weapon/arm swaps and such? Little more daemonic maybe. Assuming of course no other Terminators were in the army to be confused with? Khestra the Unbeheld
1. Storm of Iron is all the justification needed for an Iron Warriors DP, IMO. If you're hot for it, a converted Soul Grinder would be an interesting sight to see as one. 2. If you're feeling guilty about running it un-Marked, give it Mark of Nurgle for the Toughness enhancement and call it a benefit of cybernetics. Bonus - Termies and Oblits have the same base size, and I've seen several Terminator to Obliterator conversions that work just fine. A little green stuff to make the weaponry look semi-organic, and I don't think anyone will gripe. Rain
I also hate the standard oblits so I use terminators with converted arms made from a mix of possessed arms and spare gun barrels. Works fine and looks pretty good in my opinion. Rain
I would if only I had a digi/web camera :P . Not complicated to explain though, just a terminator with possessed arms with the little blade/finger protrusions removed and replaced with the front halves of plasma pistols, flamers, and some of those dragon heads from the chaos vehicle sprue and gaps filled with green stuff. Sure you can, but keep in mind that due to it's size it will be easier for your opponent to do away with your Prince. As Khestra said, SoI has the IW's Warsmith aspire to become a Daemon Prince. There is also other Undivided DP's out there in the other Legions, so what's to stop the IW's from having more than the one we 'saw' in SoI? :) Bonus Question: I never played with Obliterators because I can't stand the model honestly. However would it be appropriate to use a Chaos Terminator model as the basis of a Obliterator? Do some weapon/arm swaps and such? Little more daemonic maybe. Assuming of course no other Terminators were in the army to be confused with? imho yes, as long as it's the only model type (e.g. you have no terminators) and you've GS'ed/converted some weapons on them (you should see IP's Oblits in the Call of Chaos II thread) you're fine. minigun762
Sounds like an Undivided Soul Grinder Daemon Prince is fluffy and semi-decent. Figure I'd give him Doombolt (he's got that nice gun arm anyway) to give him something to do as he's jogging up the board.
