And i know the eyes are sub-par,but i'm not all that good with eyes, plus i only have the one sized brush(maybe should have bought another one). Off-topic:Why are GW's transfer's so terribel! AlexCrute
Very clean painting - which is a very good thing. Brush control and patience are things that cannot be learnt from forums, but you've got those both already. I think that he needs some stronger highlights in order to 'pop'. Highlighting is the only way you'll get definition in a dark mini (since shading/blacklining is all but invisible). Use a green that is a couple of shades brighter than you would expect, water it down to translucency and have at him! If the highlights go on too bright you can glaze them down with dark green ink. (More brushes is always a good thing. What is impossible with one is child's play with another)
Bloodstorm
Hes looking good, the shade of green is what i would consider to be fluffy for DA's, certainly more so than the ever brighter GW DA army. You could leave him that way (subtle highlights) or go for what AlexCrute suggests
kanan
good going so far. very clean and tidy. i also like your choice of green for your Dark Angels. do you have any books on miniature painting? if not the GW does a pretty good book on the subject which i think they have updated once again so it might be worth tracking that down to learn more complex techniques. you seem to have a natural talent with a brush, now all you got to do is refine what you do know and learn more of what you dont so you have more skills to make your models pop :) i agree with everything said by AlexCrute especially with regards to brushes. if you have money spare invest in a couple more brushes from a decent art shop, i would say get a 00, 1 & 2. dont worry about gettting the most expensive brushes as you wont need them at this stage. i think a good quality synthetic brush like the ProArte POLAR range in white nylon will suit your needs well. oh and paint whenever you have the time and inclination to do so as like anything the more time you devote to something the better you will get. best of luck
chaplainmikey
Thanks for the positive comments guys! :P So i should buy non-GW brushes? Is there anything in particualr thats bad about GW's brushes? I've been using them for a few years and the only thing i don't like about them is the fact that the bristles fallout really easily. Anyway,i plan on painting more today and starting a thread in the wip section to track my progress,so pop in and have a look! :P
Basilius
Love the dark green - keep it to this standard and you will put most of us (definitely me) to shame.
