How to arm a WG with Cyclone missile launcer?

Well I want to leav a guy fairly barebones to give the impression that it's not the cheesiest heavy weapon squad ever :D

Besides I'm really short on points. I could replace his RC with a SS though, or field the plasma guy without termi armour.

I like replacing the RC with a SS... theoretically it's more survivable, you allocate the armor saves to the 2+ armor with RC's, then you use the invulnerable save on the PA guy first as he's cheap and doesn't contribute much. :(

Except if my opponent inflicts a lot of high AP wounds, which is likely with Eldar (Scatter Lasers, Shuriken Cannons) and Nids (Devourers, Deathspitters), in which case I'd be better off with a re-rollable 3+ than a 3+ inv :pinch:

Well you'll face more shots from other armies besides eldar, eldar provide more AP weaponry that ignores your 3+ armor save...

There is one easy way to solve this though, place them in good cover and they get 3-4+ cover saves. :P Then you can take your precious re-rollable 3+ armor save. I'd be moving around my squad though, especially if I can kite around stuff like monstrous creatures. :D

What do you mean by re-rollable 3+inv :D I'm pretty sure that RC only work with armour saves.

Anyway I think I'll opt for a Termi Armour and RC and put them in cover, a re-rollable 2+ and a 4+ cover save should be enough for any foe. The problem with Eldar and to a lesser extent Tyranids is that they can dish out lots of high AP shots and as you said at the same time low AP shots/ rending... So the best solution would be termi, RC and SS for everybody but as much as I love my WGBG I won't field a 600 point squad in a 2000 point game :pinch:

IMHO - If the DA can field a variety other than SB/PF with their cyclones, the fact that our Wolf Guards can buy any weapon combo would imply, to me anyway, that we can as well.

If the rest of you agree I will add a summary along those lines to the FAQ. That we really dont know for sure, but the SM get SB/PF, and DA get other combos.

We had a quick discussion about it at my gaming group, i was quite happy to use the standard SB/PF setup but the other guys encouraged me to go for something more interesting, the current favorite being Storm shield and/or lightening claws.

If DA's can do it surely we can do it better :P

Actually heres an interesting one:

It says in Codex SM that you can have 1 in 5 models in the unit upgrade to a heavy weapon... both flamers and cannons exchanging for their stormbolter, the CML simply being added on... but it doesnt say wich model. You could in fact put it on the seargent, meaning that even smurfts can have a powerweapon, stormbolter, and missile launcher on one guy.

BLASPHEMY! :D

Me and my 4 AC's in a drop pod WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS!!!

I think you mean three ACs. If you take a LRC you can get four ACs in a pack

Refer to the "I win button" section Dark B. You'll see lars' post about how he fit 4 AC's into a pod (1 WGBL, 3 WGBG in tda (that's 8 slots so far) then 4 WGBG in PA to make a 7 man WGBG squad that you can round up to get the 3rd AC), nasty Idea, and great execution. ;)

Yeah, i had seen the list right after i had written the post. Nasty, indeed.

Come on down to Krazy Koslovs Assault Cannon Emporium! All AC's, all the time! Buy 3, get 1 free!

Orks got you down? The green tide reminding you of your lawn when you havent mowed it in weeks? Have we got the weedwhacker for you! Using the trademarked "Lars and the Drop Pod of DOOM!" technology, you too can stem the green tide.

When you absolutely must kill every xenos on the table, accept no substitute!

Hurry, supplies are limited!

Because for that Apocalypse battle I'll have the points to field another WGBG retinue with 3 ACs in a Pod ;)

And my next tournament is attended by all the best french players, so I'll stick with my 3 CML/PF/SS retinue on foot.

I wish there were such a thing as newbie tournaments in my area though :RTBBB:

For the Green Tide i have my own recept. No need for ACs. That´s a job for S-Hammer and his Wulfen.

Specially if you have 30 of them. Muhuhuhahahahahah. I love the look of my opponents when i tell them that my Wulfen have 120 rending attacks with S5 and I5.

But with 4 ACs you can show those filthy Tau scum what real firepower is. I´m just working on my WGBL with AC and his TDA retinue with three more ACs in a LRC.

Sternhammer's Wulfen Guard really is an awesome formation.

With only, should I say when I see Dark Bjoern's picture, 20 Wulfen I managed to shred to pieces an entire Wind Rider host, i.e 15 Eldar Jetbikes and 6 Vypers, followed by a squad of Banshees, a squad of Scorpions and in the end some Dire Avengers.

The look on my mate's face was priceless when he saw them Flank March just after his precious jetbikes :D

In my next Apoc game I'll use them along with Sternhammer's special rules (btw if anybody wants some info on him ;) ), I already laugh imagining the guy wanting to target them with his Titans from 72" away just to find that he has to test for Night Fighting ;)
