The_Betrayed_Spacewolf
ok ive been a long time 13th company player and currently i have begun to repaint my wolves to the blue and yellow of the current space wolves as i fear that soon my list will be obsolete. as i have never truely played as the space wolves per say what are some things that would help me and what vehicles i should look forward to using. currently at them moment for my marines i only have 2 land speeders, and 2 dreads with las and missile and ac and ccw having sold my land raider and 2 rhinos to my brothers. however i have plenty of leman russ'es that can be used as extirmenators if need be. in general how do they differenciate and what are some good things that i could do to get into the older space wolf style instead of the elite light infantry im used to playing Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148612-13th-company-to-space-wolves/ Share on other sites
Long Fang
As far as vehicles go theres one i never leave the fang without, and thats my venerable dreadnought. Hes cheaper than the SM one, has an extra attack and being a space wolf hes rock hard  The other vehicle that I'm using more and more is the predator, with the new points cost even more so, at 85 points with heavy bolters or 120 with lascannons (i always use autocannon turret myself) its a bargain especially when compared to the price of Long fang's. Wolf89
As far as vehicles go theres one i never leave the fang without, and thats my venerable dreadnought. Hes cheaper than the SM one, has an extra attack and being a space wolf hes rock hard :tu: Actually he's more expensive, maybe you forgot vehicle upgrades and weapon options? I incorporated my 13th company into my SW's without changing their colors. I actually changed my SW's to the 13th company colors because I hate baby blue and I can claim the PH card on the grey color scheme if anyone gives me crap about the colors. As for vehicles, I prefer the dreads and that's about it, keeping with 13th comp. fluff it's best to be without many vehicles. Also pods help bring the whole "outflanking" aspect that we've come to love about our 5th ed. 13th company. Did I mention bikes? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148612-13th-company-to-space-wolves/#findComment-1725402 Share on other sites

Spave Wolves Venerable Dreadnaught with Assault cannon and extra armor: 160 points. They start out fourty point more than us and have to pay a bit if they dont want a multimelta. Long Fang
@Grey mage yup yup, with that load out your 30 points cheaper and you get an extra attack and old&wise. You gotta love our venerable dread. edit- Yarr i should have mentioned i use assault cannon, so I'd upgrade the SM to it If my math is right it should be cheaper with everything BUT the multi-melta load out Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148612-13th-company-to-space-wolves/#findComment-1725593 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Lets see here- all of these including extra armor, smoke launchers and searchlights. I never take searchlights... but whatever. CSM:Plasma cannon- 190pts. CSW: Plasma Cannon- 174pts. CSM:Autocannon-190pts. CSW: Autocannon- 169.pts. CSM:Lascannon- 210pts. CSW: Lascannon- 184pts. CSM: Multimelta- 180pts. CSW: Multimelta- 174pts. CSM: Heavy Bolter- 185pts. CSW: Heavy Bolter- 164 pts. CSM:Lascannon and Missile Launcher- 220 pts. CSW:194 pts. Note that the cost to upgrade either dreads storm bolter to a heavy flamer is the same. Ill admit in some cases its that our extra armor is ten points cheaper than theres... but most of those have a difference thats greater than ten points. Wolf89
I understand that the OPTIONAL weapon upgrades are cheaper for the space wolves. I was just pointing out that the stock (what he comes with for the least amount of points in the codex) the SW ven. dread IS more expensive in points. I also like the SM's dual autocannons... it just looks like a sweet model. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148612-13th-company-to-space-wolves/#findComment-1725612 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Yeah but Id rather put it on a regular dread instead of a vendread really. As for it being optional: I like my dreads to survive, especially my vendreads. Extra armor is not optional. Remember that smoke launchers and searchlights are optional for us too... so we can get a multimelta vendread for 165... if we wanted. It just wouldnt be a smart thing to do. Grey Mage
Grey hunters. Close combat ICs. Ranged support. Speed in the form of transports or bikers or some such. Errr, toss a MM vendread into a drop pod and you have a crazy good tank busting unit. You have AP up to 20 if you roll well, you only miss on a 1. I have been trying this combo out with my new DP list and I gotta say, it's mighty nice. I would take a MM vendread in a DP over the ranged ML/TLLC combo based off the sheer AP potential off the MM, and you get that extra dice, so one dice AP flub isnt as painful. You also can drop right off the rear armor of said vehicle. And as far as what's needed for a SW army: check out the 750 pt modular army list thread. This gives you a bunch of ideas for DP, ranged support and footslogging lists. We really need to come up with a few 750 pt mechanized lists, but Wolf89 does have the vindicator list of doom, so that definately has potential.
