Ompfris
Since everyone else is giving true scale marines a go... I thought I would too... so here is my first half hours work... chopping up the terminator :) and I used a spare body from the marine bike sprue and the head from the famous bitz box ;) I will hopefully get some GS done tomorrow after work, fill in the back of the legs, the gaps and the upper arm! I know hes no where near as good as these true scale show offs lol but post what you think so far! lol try to ignore my Be'lakor chopping an Empier soldier up in the background! rezeki
looking good so far One thing i noticed when accidentally making a truescale marine is that you dont really need the termi arms, normal SM arms work perfectly well. but your termi arms will probably, in the course of time, prove me wrong. Also, try to marry up the front and back plates so you dont have that flat bit, and cut off the bum-plate and hide the gap with something. best of luck to you :3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148743-true-scale-marine/#findComment-1727023 Share on other sites
Dreadnought6107
From the rear view, it looks like the chest is a bit short compared to the legs. Maybe its just the angle, nice start though :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148743-true-scale-marine/#findComment-1727343 Share on other sites
Alys Dwr
Looks like you're off to a good start For the bum plate, i carved it back and added the 2 tier PA effect with some greenstuff. It looked good until i put robes over it... meh. As much as i love truescale and the use of terminator pieces to do it, promise me you'll sort out the arms. Power amour doesn't have pistons down the arms, too many people leave them on and it's too much of a give away. Looking forward to the GS! FuriousFerret
I think this is off to a rocking start! Obviously you have a long way to go yet, but the pose is very menacing. Al well it's a dead give-away anyway isn't it, the marine being twice the size of his little marine friends? In the interest of making awesome marines I think the niggling details can be foregone. Anything that bulks out the squatting midgets is a good thing in my book. I'm leaving the pistons on on my own marines. (And who's to say the only reason we can't see the pistons on standard marines is that they're so tiny) EDIT: what I am trying to say is this: approximation rules the day. Why worry if your slightly larger plastic soldier is a faithful copy of your little plastic soldier? Life is too short. Live and let live. Comment about pistons on arms goes for hip shields on terminator legs being used as true-scale marines, as well. If it looks ok, don't worry. And if you - plural - want to argue about standardization of marines, look to GW's own stuff and you will see that all the fluff rules laid down in the days of yore (early 1990s) and followed unquestioningly by (maniacs) devoted fans ever since are increasingly being broken by GW. Minatures are now wildly divergent. And so what. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148743-true-scale-marine/#findComment-1727896 Share on other sites
Ompfris
Ok what I have done in the last 40 mins: - New arms! with giant Terminator shoulder pads solved the alignment of the front and rear torso, super glue leaked on everything (still chewing it off my fingers!) new head cos I had to drill the old one off the marine... lol GS in the back of the calfs! instead of loosing the butt plate from the Terminator legs, I shaved bits off so it looked more like a marines butt flap  my little scale photo so show everyone but he dosent look as big as everyone elses!
