Chaplain Cassius

Well, I have FINALLY finished this model. It's been a long time in the making, and I'm VERY happy to be done with him. If you haven't painted this model before...I can't suggest you do...it's a REAL pain with all of the old school cluttering of detail. But, it is rewarding when you finally DO finish it.

Anyways enough talk for now, I'll be writing some sort of 'masterclass' on this one in the future for my blog-site.

Athiair :D

The figure looks really nice - I especially like the vibrant reds and blues which are a nice contrast to the Chaplain colours. The golds have a lovely sheen to them too. The only slight criticism is that the blacks colour have had a blend of dark grey before the highlight - but that's just nitpicking. A very nice commission.

Thanks for all of the comments folks!

The metallics were done by using GW's washes.

For the silver I basecoated with Boltgun Metal > Washed with Badab Black > Highlighted with Mithril Silver

For the gold I basecoated with Boltgun Metal > Washed with Gryphonne Sepia > Cleaned up with Shining Gold > and a final highlight of Mithril Silver.

It might take more than one hit of the wash to get a good shading on the metals.

Dat's disturbingly nice !

Therefore and I needed time to point the thing, I really dislike the colours of the book. Some leathery colour for the alien's hide would have been waaaaaaay better and the opposite coloured parts (the shoulderpad and knee (that have to be blue) and weapon (that has to be red)) would have an even more stunning effect.

Still my personnal opinion but I'd have studded (Oi ! Rivvits fer humies too 8)) the Ultra symbol on shoulder with the same (and very nice) gold you used on the same shoulderpad (to build contrast). Hmmm and i would have worked the purity seals out of a darker tone, probably some scab red with red gore effects to shake the impression that all reds describe the same matter.

Ack, I hope I'm not too hard. I keep in mind that all of us "see" different things about same mini so this is just my opinion about a work I really appreciate.
