saphius
Haven't seen this brought up anywhere so I though I would ask. With the increase in size of Drop Pods, Can you fit two packs in one drop pod?.... At first I though probably not as it's a dedicated transport, but with the rules on those even changing, and marines able to combat squad after they land, and drop pods not actually being listed in the GH entry as a Dedicated Transport (from what I remember, codex is not at hand), it makes me wonder.... Can you put two Packs of 6 GH, Or any combination that is under 12 models, in the same drop pod? Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
i would say no, as you cant deploy 2 squads in a single rhino...wait, you couldnt anyway...you cant deploy 2 squads in a land raider. 1 squad per transport. wolf lord kieran Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148899-2-packs-1-pod/#findComment-1728891 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
If your putting out your thought based on the Rhino taxi rule, it would not be allowed based on the statement that a Rhino can only become a taxi for other squads after a seperation from it "dedicated" squad has occured. Seperation cannot occre until after the games starts, thus no doubling of squads in a drop pod, Keep looking for those loopholes never know when one will pay off. saphius
Meh, don't think i would ever run it, prefer the bigger squads dropping in. just a curious thought after reading the 750pt. I win lists.... Now those aren't very nice.... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148899-2-packs-1-pod/#findComment-1728913 Share on other sites

muzzyman1981
2 squads cannot take a Drop Pod, 2 units can't take any transport at the same time no matter when in the game....only 1 unit may use a transport at a time (plus and IC as long as the total amount of models does not exceed the transport's capacity) It is clearly written in the Rulebook under the Vehicles section subsection Transport Vehicles sub-subsection Transport Capacity. A Drop Pod is considered a transport and therefor the rules include it. Wooohoooo I am starting to know the rules =P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/148899-2-packs-1-pod/#findComment-1729248 Share on other sites

megamat008
Talking about Apocalypse have you seen the rules for the Stormlord ? It can carry up to 40 models and even better has 20 fire points ;) Imagine 3 WGBL and 9 WGBG with CML firing at the same time from it, AND the Stormlord itself firing 30 Vulcan Mega-Bolter shots  And the model is scheduled for March according to rumors... bugbait_nz
Having just listened to the latest 40K Radio pod cast there is a Trait like rule in the new Marine codex (dont have the book yet) that lets you split a single squad when the pod lands, so I guess vanilas can and SW cant, have to see what the new codex brings. Bugbait out What you are talking about is Combat Squads which is WAY different than 2 packs. Two packs in this instance is two seperate units from the beginning, whereas the Combat Squads rule take one pack and splits them up AFTER being deployed into smaller bits. Since only ONE pack/squad can take a Drop Pod (or any transport) the OP's ideas, while interesting, is invalid. IF the idea is to take 1 pack of 10 plus someone(s) to take up the extra two DP slots then yes, you could technically fit two packs in by splitting AFTER the drop, but they wouldn't be two packs before or even technically after since they are still ONE pack just split into two autonimus groups.
