minigun762
Simple question. How many of you out there actually work your DCCW's as anti-tank weapons? By this I mean rush your Dreadnought or Defiler into HtH with an enemy tank and smash the crap out of it. Lets face it, S10 and 5-6 attacks should knock down even a Monolith with a little bit of luck. The downside is getting that close to the tank and being able to hit it and hopefully its not a Skimmer. Rain
I always assumed that rushing into HtH was the main purpose of defilers nowadays anyway, hence the fleet rule and the option for 2 free extra arms. As for dreads, I haven't used one since the new codex dropped so I don't know but I assume it would be far worse than a defiler as they get less attacks (comparing a DCCW dread to a fully CC kitted defiler) and can go crazy causing it to not move and kill your own units. Khestra the Unbeheld
I have, in fact, Fleeted my Defiler into a Monolith in a battle and killed its face. The pyramid might have laughed at the battlecannon, but who's laughing NOW?? :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149014-s10-dccw-as-anti-tank/#findComment-1730391 Share on other sites

The pyramid might have laughed at the battlecannon, but who's laughing NOW?? Was that your intention behind the Defiler or were you messing around and just got lucky? I ask because it seems like exactly the kind of thing that I'm talking about and it worked out wonderfully. Especially against those damn Monoliths which are immune to alot of the standard Marine tricks (Power Fists and Meltaguns), a bunch of S10 hits is your best bet to knock these piles of crap down. More and more I find myself looking away from Missile Launchers and LasCannons as anti-tank weapons and instead focusing on Melta weapons and Power Fists/DCCW. Get up close and personal to destroy the armor, instead of trying to exchange shots with it at range. Tfcdogbert
I intend to use mine as back cover to take out dreadnaughts, land raiders, outflanking tansk in general, but i agree with your philosophy on armour, ive slowly eliminated all the lascannons from an army that one had 10 *sniff* only have 2 left, and i take the oblits for the plasma in any case :D, but my raptors are doing well as tankhunters. Get up close and personal to destroy the armor, instead of trying to exchange shots with it at range. It was actually me taking a chance under the circumstances. He had just phased the Monolith back into play using some sort of Necron douchebaggery but didn't want to get it too close to my las/missile Havocs, which had begun hammering on it along with the Defiler but still hadn't done much more than annoy it, so he opted to place it about 9 inches from the Defiler where the Havocs couldn't get a clean shot off. I scuttled the Defiler forward 6" and Fleeted the rest of the way, slamming into it with six CC attacks, and that Hellspider took that thing apart with four penetrating hits. It also works against unattentive Land Raiders. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149014-s10-dccw-as-anti-tank/#findComment-1731586 Share on other sites

Iron_Chaos_Brute
I don't use defilers as anti-tank so much as anti-MeQ. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149014-s10-dccw-as-anti-tank/#findComment-1735621 Share on other sites
