Are Grey Slayers and Storm Claws worth adding?

I have a decent size (2500 pts or so) Space Wolves army and really like the army. I found a box of Grey Slayers and a box Storm Claws from the 13th Company and am thinking about adding them to the army. My questions are a:) Is it a problem legally adding the 13th Company packs to a regular SW army? b:) Are they worth the points cost?

No it's not legal and the points costs are balanced for the 13th Company list.

However the models can do just fine as normal SW's. Most of my Space Wolf army is made up of 13th Company models, shave off the chaos bits and you just have more ornate, horn bedecked wolves.

I've thought of similar things. Unless you opponent/game store is ridiculous strict i see no reason why you can;t use grey slayers/storm claws as grey hunters/blood claws in normal games and then in friendly games with mates or as mentioned apoc games use them as slayers/storms. The issue i have with thirteenth company is that my mate is busy writing a 'silver bullet' datasheet to deal with all the wulfen lol.

The other great thing about adding the models to your normal army is that the packs will have plenty of variation in them.

Nothing about being ridiculously strict at all, the simple rules don't allow it. It's not like something along the lines of DH's or WH's where there are specific ally rules. The drawback of the 13th company is they can't have armor of any type, so as soon as you start giving wulfen, stormclaws, grey slayers, etc. the ability to hop in a rhino or razorback, even a land raider and zoom around killing stuff mercilessly, you've just broken the game completely.

If your opponent (in a friendly game mind you, nothing tournament or anything) would allow you a squad or two of grey slayers and storm claws, I would HIGHLY advise you that you don't get to use transports for them, but in return, you still get to use their scouts rules and such. I'd also strongly suggest you don't get access to the fenrisian wolves packs, but I think the storm claws bikers would be fine if you wanted.

As mentioned already, you could always use them as "count-as" blood claws and grey hunters. I've converted my whole Space Wolves to 13th company now (color scheme and some chaos bits) I just don't use their stat lines, rules and points from the EoT codex, I use the C:SW.

Yarr thats what I meant by

use grey slayers/storm claws as grey hunters/blood claws in normal games

I'll have to stop drinking so much ale before i post so that I'm clearer  But some games/clubs that i have come across don't allow any subsitue models so wouldn't allow 13th company models to represent 'real' Space wolves.

I use almost all 13th troops models in my sw army. Never had a problem. All armed as shown. All used just like normal SW. I actually have a whole company - Vehicles and all, Painted with kind of a 13th company theme. Always liked 13th's paint scheme better than the normal SW paint scheme.

I may have had more bad experinces with this than others? This sort of thing is exactly why i stopped playing at my local Games Workshop, must be nearly 8 years since i;ve played there... the manager who was being such a pain is long gone but it left a bad feeling. But i get 2-3 games a week at my gaming club so i haven't suffered that bad :HQ:

Anyone else had ppl being that over the top?

Thats anal retentive. Im sorry but I wouldnt want to play with a group who did that.

Its one thing if you drop down a jar of peanut butter and say its a rhino..... its another thing if youve got conversions that are close.

And yes, people who cant deal with the concept of 13nth co being SW conversions are probly AR too.

Thanks for all of the input guys (and gals possibly). They are looking cool so far. The guys in my group are okay with using them as 13th Company, but using the 13th Company rules (No transports, etc.) for them only. I just have to remember to not bring them for any tournaments.
