There have allways been two armies i have loved painting but i was loathe to get rid of either because of finance problems.

I now have the monies and materials and time to revisit one army, but i cant decided which!

Help me decide, Deathguard (shots of original army, i have more if anyone requests)

I honestly cannot choose between them, i loved both armies but want to lavish my attentions on one, any ideas, improvments over originals etc would be great.

How about some some imperial yellow men who fell to nurgle? :)

Nah i think they are both great choices, how big are you planning your army to be?

Because you could do a small force of each if you enjoyed making them both so much.

Only improvement i would say it that in my opinion the green trim on the death guard is a bit toooooo green, i think an olive colour may have worked better.

As for which to pick only you can decide that mate, as your the one who will be making and playing with them!

Which one did you do first? Do the other one, basically do the one you havn't done for the longest time.

Er, the one he did first would be the one he hasn't done for the longest time ;)

I'd say go with the fists, if only because Death Guard seem to have been super common here over the last 4 months (longer?), and a change is as good as a holiday ^_^

I would go with the Fists as well. There is hardly a more distinctive looking chapter (except for maybe Marines Malevolent) than the fists. Besides, not to slam those that do DG, but a lot of people do them. I think if you are looking for a project that will test your painting skills, IF are the way to go. There are so many ways to do a yellow, plus being consistent across the army.

Go Fists!

I vote you get the Deathguard cranking again. I'm in love with the green accents over the rotting flesh/whatever armour.

Fists are supposed to be rare, but having said that there seems to be an awful lot of them sprouting out of the woodwork here on the BnC at the mo. Which is partly my fault :P

  • 1 month later...

Okay finally made some progress at what i am planning on doing.

I am using my Deathguard colour scheme minus all the heavy purples/green inks and colours to create a sub-faction of world bearers called 'The Unworthy'

The idea behind the force is that the marines are all recently inducted/recruited/created marines who have yet to prove there dedication to 'The Word'.

I am using the scheme on all rank and file marines, with the shoulder pads being rendered in normal world bearer colours. All champions/chars, vehicles and elites will be rendered in normal world bearers colours with the rough/grey colour on there shoulder pads.

I have a predator and champ done as test mini's and will be posting these in the next few days.

Having read the 'Battle for the Abyss' i have decided that 'The Unworthy' must best an Ultramarine in order to be promoted full status, as such ultramine trophies etc will be common.

In opposite to this i have decided to start a force of Tyrannic war veteran smurfs, led by Cassius himself (again this is spurred by 'Battle for the Abyss and the

brilliant new marine codex).

So far i have a combat squad and the lovely GD Commander wielding the two-hand thunder-hammer.

Okay here is my work so far, i am going for a good tabletop standard. The models seem to have much harsher highlights in these pics than in RL, im not that great a photographer :D. So far the test minin is pure world bearers and has not had the shoulder pads done.

C+C welcome, updates soon

Two-handed hammers for the win :D The commander looks tops. Your painting has come through really nicely. I'm usually firmly against dead body parts on bases, but I actually sort of like what you've done here, it's tasteful and not at all over the top, and doesn't detract from the minis themselves. Looking cool so far. Nice to see someone elses horrors too, the more ideas I get for them the better.

[whisper] it's Word Bearers (your guys), and World Eaters (Khornate nutters) [/whisper]
