Master Vandor
So my question (and please forgive me if this has already been discussed) is what does a Terminator squad taking a Land Raider as a dedicated transport mean for the force organization chart. Does it still take up a Hvy Support choice or No? And if it does then what is the point of making it a dedicated transport since the rules say anyone can use it not just the squad that bought it? Reglor
No, a trasport never takes you a slot, even if the same vehicle is avalible on it's own. And that is the advantage, you can get more vehicles than you would otherwise have slots for. Albion de Heaven
in addition if the troop you are taking dedicated transport for has infiltration or scout rule also the trasport get the rule so if for some strange reason your terminators can infiltrate than your LR with terminators on can come in outflanking Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149313-land-raider-dedicated-transport/#findComment-1734170 Share on other sites
WarpSpawn
Also worth noting that only the unit it was bought for (plus attached characters) can deploy in it. Other people can ride it but they need to climb aboard during the game. Master Vandor
Okay makes sense. Thanks WarpSpawn I for got about that one :) So if a person was crazy enough, they could field five Land Raiders with a single FOC. 1 for normal termies and 1 for assault termies plus 3 hvy support. I think i could get that to fit in a 2000 pt army. Just keep those Tau away :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149313-land-raider-dedicated-transport/#findComment-1734439 Share on other sites
Brother Gothard
I think you mean six land raiders; 1 for each of 3 Terminator Squads, 3 for Heavy support. I've fielded 4 in a chaos list, (though I forget at what points limit) 2 as heavy and 2 as terminator transports. Though I do not recommend this. Your opponents will hate you, and in 5th edition, unless you annihilate your opponent, you will lose to objectives. WarpSpawn
I'm going from memory here but I believe 5 is actually correct. You can take 3 terminator squads, this is true, but I believe the entry for each type says 1 of each type of squad can take a landraider as a transport, meaning 2 in total. Vandor, In that army, you might even find room for a single tac squad or a few scouts. Brother Gothard
Oh my bad. It IS one of each may take. That's weird, I wonder why they even bothered to put that restriction in there. Is taking 6 land raiders common? Is having 5 instead of 6 really something game breaking? Is having 5 or 6 land raiders really that GOOD? Anyway, I guess the question is answered. WarpSpawn
Rare as it may be, maybe that is part of the reason. I would also guess it is to prevent a 3 termi, 3 raider list, with 3 other heavy support choices. Rare as even this may be, I suspect it would be more common and more feasable than 5-6 landraiders.
