How easy would it be to add an Imperial Guard contingent to a SW force? I'm thinking of adding 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks (not LRE) as it fits in with a campaign we are running with Orks, Black Templars, and Tau. However I am not sure of the intricacies of doing so, would I need to have an Allied HQ unit before adding any Fast Attack/Heavy Support/Troops from their codex? In addition, is there any way we can add the tanks with a minimum (or nothing) of troops (some kind of Armoured Column?).

Cheers, a round of Ale for all in the Fang in anticipation of our victory!

Without it being apocalypse you can't add IG as allies to your space wolves list. If you're pairing up with someone who plays IG then all they need to do is use their FoC and as long as he meets those it's all fine (like a 2v2 kind of thing).

Otherwise the IG cannot ally until apocalypse. That too would be using their FoC.

Thats a pretty sweet idea WolfLordLars.

Could probably get a sanctioned psyker in as well assuming the power they had fitted in with the story that is, I'm not to familiar with there powers, but something warp sight based, could work nicely?

Would, but they suck. When I play Apoc, I use the stats from a SM Librarian for House Navigators. Considering getting some sentinels as well.

I still say that SM librarians are wayyyy wayyyy too high for a house navigator. Navigators are not typically combat trained. They are simply psychers that come from a house of sanctioned psychs to do the navigation for the Imperium. There's nothing physically efficient about them, at all. Not above a normal human at any rate. The only thing I would say that makes sense is that they would have a Ld of 10 as they are well trained in the ways of their craft. Even as far as offensive powers, there's very VERY little evidence in the fluff as far as a navigator, or even astropath, using their psychic gifts in the ways of an offensive force. Typically they just use the gift to guide thier forces through the warp. On very seldom occasions are they asked to go above an beyond that, where they might have to duel minds with a daemon in the warp. But on a whole, navigators are physically weak and psychically low on the combat ability totem pole. Especially compared to a SM librarian who has been honed for centuries to use psychic attacks in battle. When it comes down to it, a house navigator would rather shy away from a battle rather than join it.

Give him Gate and Machine Curse. Keeps him somewhat useful, his points cost down, but nothing really flashy. Gate makes sense, as they traverse the warp all the time, and Machine curse doesnt seem horribly out of place either. The force weapon can be explained asa telekinetic or mindwar style attack, and bionics for the T4. LD 10 because of their intense training and survival in the warp space.

Besides, cant navigators live to be really, really old? And dont they show alot of intense physical changes compared to humans? And arent they often pilots until the gene awakens in them?

read wolfs honour the lady of belisarus takes on quite a few sorceres and traitor guard. then again she has a power weapon and some sort of melta pistol.

by and by though shes quite strong. so yeah and who knows what true powers a psyker has. (although you might hate it. i suggest using a da librarian as they do not have a range on their powers unlike the new smurf librarians

Well cant you get a IG contingent alla inquisitorial stormtroopers allies? Noncomplusory troops choice... you can have up to two, and then an inquisitor with psychic powers for the navigator...

Plausible, but unless it's strictly for fluff, it's nothing you want to do for a "winning" aspect, our best troops are the ones available to us, and I've never had success with inquisitorial stormtroopers... grey knights all the way for sure if you ever do ally.
