Mr. Bleak
Hi everybody! Well, you may have seen me posting infrequently in the loyalist marines section, and after buying a loyalist codex, i decided the frilly good-boy marines weren't for me, so I turned to Chaos! muwhahahah! Anyway, after looking around, i finally settled on the Red Corsairs! Reletively simple-looking paint, job, and it still looks good! The only problem is, I don't know haw I'm gona start them! What I could do is massively convert the AOBR set (using horns and chaotic attachments left over from my Beastherd boxes from Warhammer Fantsasy), and then add a battleforce and the codex, and all that stuff, or I could buy the rulebook seperatley and get the Doombringer annihalation force and a few squads of marines..... I need help! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149664-starting-red-corsairs/ Share on other sites
Captain Malachi
I'd say either the battleforce (they still do a chaos battleforce right?) or huron and 2 squads of csms, and then pick and choose what you want. Iron-Daemon Forge
If your in the UK (not sure other area of the world) & you still check out the White Dwarf. You should check out tale of four gamers where Matt Huston (sp?) is making a Red Corsier army. He went with all the background that is shown in the codex chaos & the new rule book so his army is Huron Sorcerer, acting as Techmarine from the codex story Unit of Termies as bodyguards unit of 9 converted to look like the Space Wolves from the codex story that turn to chaos unit of 10 Marines Both with Rhinos Hopeful this month White Dwarf will show the Night Lords unit, from the background. Just 10 Marines from what I rememeber Vindacator Pred. He was keep away from all Daemon stuff like Daemon, Great Daemons, Possessed, Daemon Prince & some other units like Obliterators. He wanted to keep the red corsier as pure chaos marines with no possessed/daemons. From games day http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/GD%202009/DSC03165.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/GD%202009/DSC03166.jpg Yes I would start with the Battle force as it give you some bits to convert, nice core. Bezerker can be hire help. If you got any left over Imperial Space Marines bits use them as well to show the recently turn to red corsier from diffrent chapters. Then try get Huron & what ever you please. Also read the background in the codex Chaos & the 5th Ed rule book. Mr. Bleak
Wow, thanks for the replies! I think I will get the battleforce, and I could have sworn that there was a unit of 10 possesed in the story on the GW site (which is what alerted me to the Red Corsairs in the first place) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149664-starting-red-corsairs/#findComment-1740421 Share on other sites
Rain
There is also a Red Corsairs possessed model in the 5th edition rulebook, so I'm pretty sure possessed are fine, and obliterators could easily be explained as allies who fight for Huron in exchange for a share of the loot as that's what the chaos codex says oblits do anyway.
