Full-choke
So I finally got everything around and hacked together a decent codex to use at the FLHS. It is nothing tourney legal by any means but mainly a hodge-podge of the experimental codex found on the dark fortress website and a few small changes here or there. I had all the guys at the store go through and put their seal of approval on it, and I will make changes as I play them and see what all they can do. (I don't want a cheese army so I actually want something that I can be difficult to play, not something that will beat down anything on the board.) Here are the ideas I have come up with for forces: HQ, Elites, Troops Tech-priest models - Modded Tech Priests and tech Marines Praetorians - Vostroyan Imp Guard (looked odd and kind of an outcast, appropriate for the Ad Mech) Electro-Prests - Modded out various robed models I had lying around (paint scheme is difficult for there buys, help would be great) Skitarii - Storm Troopers (using steel legion models until the plastic storm troopers come out!) Servitors - Servitor models, maybe something modded out with bionical weapons (haven't settled on that one yet) Cultist Units - Stell Legion (once I get the storm troopers for the skitarii, until then I won't have them) Robots - NO IDEAS YET! REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS ONE! Tanks Rhinos/Chimeras for transports Land Raider - only the lascannon variant as it is a holy vehicle Malcador - I gave them the Malcador as a heavy option, everyone approved (old tank, old technology, seemed appropriate too. Plus I had an earlier tank mod that I was using as a Malcador that I repainted.) Specials Adamantium Giant - modded pentinent engine\ Knight Titan - Thinking a modded defiler kit, not sure yet Warhound Titan - Modded 'Gunther' model from the game Dust (prolly build a couple depending on how the first attempt comes out Reaver Titan - Will custom build one eventually, don't know what from though...maybe completely scratch built Support Weapons Thudd Gun - New thunderfire cannon Conversion Beamer - Modded out Ork Zap gun built on to another frame and some power generators added on. So far I have enough Vostroyans for enough Praetorians to do anything, I need a few more models for some varied HQ. I have the 2 steel legion squads on order to be in this week. I redid a couple of my razorbacks to fit the ad mech list. My on-going land raider project that was for my SM army is going to get painted Ad Mech when it is completed. Once the gunther model gets here I will be building the warhound. I should have enoug put together and based that I will be able to field it in a couple of weeks and see how it plays. Captain Malachi
Maybe it's just me, but isn't super heavies in a normal army a bit unbalanced? Fluffy I'll grant you, but unbalanced nonethelss. Full-choke
Granted it is a super heavy but points wise it's not that fantastic. For the amount of points it costs and for what you get the tank really isn't that fabulous. And to top it all off I haven't even gotten that thing on an army list prior to 3000 pts anyways. Between robots as heavies, sentinels and everything else it is hard to dedicate that kind of points until above 3000. Like I said though, if the Malcador gets to be too much I will either take it off or make it a new tank option. Drop it down to 1 structure point, drop some points and call it a 'light malcador' or something. This army is not meant to be tourney useable, more just for fun. It is still a work in progress, I will have to see how it all plays when I get enough roped together to throw on the board. Captain Malachi
I was actually thinking about the titans lol. Overall it does seem like a pretty good dex, love to hear how it works out. Full-choke
After more thought on it yesterday I revised the entire heavy portion of the list. Everything else remains the same, the only heavy options become support weapons, Rhino, Chimera, Land Raider and Knight Class Titan. Warhound, Reaver and any other titan, along with the Malcador become super heavies and Apoc only. I think I might also mod the list to add Skitarii Heavy Weapons Squads or something for another smaller heavy option, depends on how useful I find the support weapons.
