BrotherZaah
Hi all. I'm new to the whole work in progress log thing, so i'd like to take a minute to explain why i'm doing one. Over the next few weeks I have a busy modelling time ahead of me. I have an army to paint up for the GT Heat 2 in Nottingham. Which is now only 3 weeks away. On top of that, the army i've chosen (Imperial Fists) have been stock favorite of mine since I started the hobby. To this end Once the GT is done, I'd like to increase the force to a reinforced battle company. (Battle Company + some 1st company) I'd like to look back once all is said and done and fully take in the accomplishment. I'd also like guidance as to what to do, and what not to do along the way. My army list for the GT is as follows: HQ Pedro Kantor 175 Codicier Selihm 100 - Null Zone - Gate of infinity - Teleport Homer Elites Sternguard (10) 250 -2 Combi-Meltas 10 Drop Pod 35 Assault Terminators (5) 200 Troops Tactical Squad (10) 170 - Multi-Melta - Plasma Gun 10 - Power Fist 25 Rhino 35 Tactical Squad (10) 170 - Multi-Melta - Plasma Gun 10 - Power Fist 25 Rhino 35 Heavy Support Vindicator 115 Vindicator 115 (Note this is entirely subject to change based upon what you guys say I feel its a weak list, but cant put my finger on why.) As for Work In Progress (cue more patented BrotherZaah shoddy photgraphy): Sternguard: http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_2999.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3000.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3001.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3003.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3004.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3005.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_3006.jpg Yellow Tester: http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_2952.jpg http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo242/BrotherZaah/IMG_2964.jpg I like how he came out, matched the colour to the Index Astartes article almost perfect. Now to choose company- 4th or 5th? Please Please Please give C&C on the list and the models, I want this Company of Heroes to look like a Company of Heroes. Thanks BZ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149950-company-of-heroes/ Share on other sites
Alys Dwr
I'm not the best with army lists, but your's does look prety solid to me (only problem is you've given a rather precise rundown of points, might be seen as violating the rules). However i'm good with models and yours are looking sweet at the moment and the yellow is nice and cris, a whole army of these will look good. Only niggle is the first marine: i get that he's looking down the barrel to shoot, but the position seems unnatural to me, i think it's because he isn't using the scope. That and the autosight built into bolters making it unnecessary. BrotherZaah
Yeah, I like that model, but you're right the pose isnt natural. The idea was him bounding over a rock or lip of a trench (In true imperial fist style) and unloading his bolter into whatever he finds. However, as I used a brass coated paper clip as the skeleton it was impossible to move or reposition once all the arm "segments" had been glued on. With the benefit of hind sight i'd have lowered the leading arm so he's pointing down to where he's heading. As it is, im not sure what to do with him. the kneeling and aiming marine is much the same, a complete miscalculation on my part as to how tall the boltgun would be with the scopes fitted. In regards the army list, All the other 1500 pointers i've seen make me feel im lacking in fire + man power. though i'll know on friday when i try the list. Update: Tactical Squad 1 Complete multimelta and all. a bit PO'd that the devs only come with one MM and a million pointless peices that, whilst good for converting, arnt heavy weapons, which they could've been. So I'm one multimelta down and only a week into the project. Anyone else got any comments or critisism? Say what you think, as it all helps me get better. Disruptor_fe404
I'm loving the repositioned firing arms and the repositioned legs. Simple chop and stick with green stuff filling the gaps, I'm assuming? If you feel the boltguns are too tall, you can actually cut down the scopes and the iron sights on the guns so that the scope sits flush. The effect will be much better. Librarians can't get teleport homers. I only say this if you plan to limit yourself to bare essential WYSIWYG. Model it on anyway if you feel it might look cool. Which it probably will. HIMSA
sounds like you sprayed from too far away... the only thing you can really do is sand them off with a little fine grit wet and dry or strip them totally... (tough work) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/149950-company-of-heroes/#findComment-1747890 Share on other sites
