ShinyRhino
Here's some quick pics of my first Ultra vet sergeant. He needs his pads freehanded, and his pack glued on. I know he's got red paint on the axe haft, and gold in the crease of his shoulder. there's also a small mould line on the axe. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/vetsergwip1.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/vetsergwip2.jpg http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/vetsergwip3.jpg How do you folks like the poweraxe? I might have overdone the red shading. Probably should have just done black and quick transitions to red, but oh well. rat of vengence
The axe looks fine to me. I like your shading too. I would consider lining either side of the red stripe on the helmet with the thinest of black lines to define it though. Good work! Mithrilforge
yeah! this guy looks good B) but as Rov said try and make a blackline between the white and red keep painting those ultras! mega_marines
I like it, but I would reposition the head. It looks like he's currently going "Gah! It's huge!" And yes, it is an open comment, say what you want. ShinyRhino
Thanks for the replies, all. His posing is indeed a bit off. He's a"refurb Marine" so I was working with the torso/head/legs pose the previous owner started with. If I could do him over, I'd have him looking down the sights of his bolt pistol. ShinyRhino
I've got the first layer of his shoulderpad freehand down in grey. Next layer is pure white. However, before I do that, I'd like to get some opinions. I tried freehanding his Crux Terminatus, and am relatively pleased with how the skull came out. Not too shabby, considering it was done with a red sbale, size 0 brush. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/vetsergwip4.jpg The thing I need help on is deciding what to do with the "crux" part. I'm trying to emulate the one sculted on a pad, or the knee of the AoBR Terminators. But the double-lined crux is hard to get right. Thus far, I've only got the lines. I'm tempted to just stop here, but I know I won't be happy with it if I do. Should I leave it as just the skull, and erase the lines? Push the lines out further, and do the double-line crux? Or, push the lines out firther to thedges of the pad and do a solid crux? If I leave the lines as-is and try to do the crux, it looks very odd, especially on the bottom. Thanks for any input and opinion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150100-wip-ultramarine-vet-sergeant/#findComment-1747085 Share on other sites
