Thanks!

Two more marines for the Aepesians have been completed – Brother Neophrast, and Brother-Sergeant Santiagon:

Sergeant Santiagon:

This pict-capture documents the execution of Dregsnaga Wortgutz, a relatively minor ork personality who had been placed in charge of the enslaved populace of Scythia, Hypon's third largest continent.

Santiagon is marked out as a sergeant by a number of details. Wreathed shoulder trims were a common marker of status at this time, and the Iron Halo honorific – a red skull – is shown as part of his tactical markings on his left shoulder pauldron and on his backpack.

He has also incorporated a red halo into his personal heraldry, which combines the blue and white of the Legion with the halo of Calth.

Proof of his Calthan heritage is drawn from his pure iron service stud (other worlds in Ultramar utilise other materials for such honorifics), and also the skull wreathed by the Wings of Ultramar (a winged inverted omega) on his chestplate.

I was really pleased with how the face came out, and I had a lot of fun with all the freehand work, particularly on the chest. If you look carefully, you'll note that it reads 'ULTRA' on the curve of the inverted omega on his chest.

Brother Neophrast

A veteran of the Colchis Insurrection and the Klade campaigns, Neophrast is the oldest member of the Aepesians. Hailing from Macragge, his tactical knowledge spans from ice-world to desert plains, and he has been involved in the execution of twelve sentient species, consigning them to the dataslates of the Remembrancers.

Note the army badge on the left hip plate rather than the (more common) knee. The Wreathed Skull denotes the Pacification of Twelve-Forty Two, known to the inhabitants as Hypon.

@Cpl_saint - i love the pre heresy look and most of all,the helmets rock

i looked at your warseer thread and was impressed so much with the "Sigur" pattern flamer that i put in a requsition to my chapter techie's for one of those in my GotC army

(i hope my version does your idea justice)along with some old style helmets ;)

the individual heraldry is very evocative of the old style marines, you have captured the "each marine has a history" type feel, well done!.

i look forward to being inspired by more of your work.

Coo, this is a blast from the past! I've since moved from the Cpl_Saint account (lost my password!) and now post as Apologist. As Malika says, you can check out some more over at my Warseer thread here:

Using the Tempus Fugitives rules, the army has swollen to around 4,000pts, including Roboute Guilliman, Marius Gage, Captain Orar, and lots more. Here's a shot of the army as it stood a year or so ago. I've recently revisited the army, and am currently building more stuff. I hope you like it!
