Looking for Playtesters

For those of the Inquisition board who do not already know or are not already aware, I am the present arbiter of the Codex Inquisition Rewrite Project.

A little bit of historical background: This project is the current and most advanced descendant of a Grey Knights related thread started by ferrous on July 18, 2008. It is, now on page 8 of the Inquisition boards as I post this new topic: Making the Fast Attack GK useful again. This thread started off discussing the Fast Attack Grey Knights, but it grew with the suggestion of other changes such as moving Purgation squads to Fast Attack, and the campy suggestion of Grey Knight jetbikes. The thread started to go off topic, and so Reclusiarch Darius started a new thread on July 30: DH 5th edition codex. That thread is now on page 7.

When those threads faded, I was asked to continue what ferrous and Darius started. I took it a step further.

The Codex Inquisition Rewrite Project involves the 3 major Ordos of the Inquisition, plus Radicals, plus the three Chambers Militant. The end result will be one codex each for the Grey Knights, the Sisters of Battle, the Deathwatch, the Inquisition, and the Radicals. All of these five can be run together into one big fat codex, or used separately as five thinner ones, or organized into four middle codexi for the different Ordos and the Radicals.

If, eventually, the development of this project leads to a successful, balanced series of Codexi that represent all or almost all options available to the Inquisition, to Radicals, Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle and the Deathwatch, we hope that Games Workshop will use some of our developments as base material.

PLAYTESTING

The project is now opening a playtesting stage while simultaneously in full-on development. All players welcome to playtest some of the new rules being developed, and all players welcome to contribute to the discussion of new rules and changes.

The results of playtesting will have a very important effect on the development of the new rules in discussion, and go a very long way toward establishing the legitimacy of the end product. The participation and contribution of more players and posters will also have a very important effect on the quality of the work and discussion in general. This project is not just a matter of Home-grown Rules: this is a project that we hope will support the players of the Inquisition until Games Workshop pulls a new codex together, and one that we hope will support the players of the Inquisition even if Games Workshop pulls a Squats on us all.

For the future of the Inquisition, and the survival of the Imperium.

Here we go;

Hi guys, I'm also part of 7eAl's Inquisition Project. Just a little something 7eAl forgot to mention - Read the first post on any thread! We keep them updated on whats going on with the thread's particular topic, any protocols relating to the thread, and what ideas are being put in/are under discussion. They're really useful, especially if the thread gets a little off topic.

*Blatant Plug* Come and see my Weapons and Wargear thread! *End Blatant Plug*

Cheers. :D

Well, 69 reads (2 of which are mine) and benmothershaw has now come on board. Maybe we should do a more blatant post in the other forums. I've put a couple of posts on other topics in the BT forum, and braved a trip to the Rock. Next, on my list, breaking into the Fang. :)

Isiah the moderator plays Grey Knights - maybe you should PM him?

well I can take sisters . Testing stuff is more or less my job . you guys want pre made armies or test different set ups ?

Test everything, however you like. It's a good excuse to play more.

also should we do a control group? ie play one game with raw and then the next with the rules we play test.

Hm. I think that standard game data for the current rules is pretty easy to find if we just ask around, but playtesting is another issue. The control group shouldn't be necessary, especially if playtesters provide a lot of observations and comments.

well if I can swing an opponent willing to help then I can play test, Grey Knights, Sisters Of Battle, and possibly even a pure =][= army but since I put my guard on hold I would have to borrow models to do that one).

But anyhew.. I just got back from the Warhammer World Weekend event for Warhammer Historical... and im tired, so i'll either check tomorrow (or next week when I wake up some time) for the rules you want tested, or you can drop me a PM with what you want tested.

Mal.

Welcome to the project, then. All you've got to do is show your buddies the threads and have them help you out with playtesting, or copy down the rules changes that you want to try out.

Concept artwork for two of the Sisters Named Characters is up by the way.
