13th Co. Wolf Pack Leader Question

I'm building a 13th Company and I'm trying to figure out how exactly to kit out my pack leader. I have the Eye of Terror book and see that they start with base 3 attacks. I'd get d3 for the mark of wulfen. So at this point I'm at 4-6 each turn. Per true grit if he uses a combi-weapon or bolter I wouldn't gain any bonus on the charge or the counter-attack. If I give him a wolf pelt does he get a +1 attack when being charged at or do I need to make a leadership test for the counter attack even though i wouldn't gain a +1 attack from that, just so I can gain the +1 from the pelt?

Also should I just go ahead and give him say a bolt pistol and frost blade to get him base 4 attacks, then also gain another +1 from counter-attack or charge? If I'm doing the math right it'd be 3 base, +1 for bp/fb, +d3 for mark of wulfen, +1 on charge or +2 on counter charge if also wearing a wolf pelt. So 5-7 base, 6-8 on charge, 7-9 counter charge?

1) check the FAQ in the stickied threads... it covers some of this stuff.

2) You need to make the leadership test to get the bonus from the plet... the rest of his squad might appreciate it too....

3) Are you sure your thinking of a pack leader? Cause frostblades are Battle Leaders only.

4)And yes, your math is right.

Ya I looked at the codex again. If he chooses from the wolf guard list then he can't take a frost blade. So i guess i'd go with the pf and keep the bolter or go with a combi-bolter, in which case he could gain the +1 from the pelt I believe but not the charge or counter attack.

So 4-6 attacks with fist and 5-7 if being charged with a passed leadership test.

The Wolf Gaurd Battle Leader doesnt even have the option to take from the wolf gaurd list at all.

Hes an IC. He has to choose from the more expensive point values. Period. Frost blade is a great idea on him however, and fairly cheap for what it does. Runic charm should also be considered a must have.

He's talking about the wolf guard PACK leader, it's a little different wording in C:EoT and I was never sure why they did that... :)

I always kit my WGPL's in my squads to have combi weapons and power fists... main reason being is that the rest of the squad (grey slayers) cannot take special CCW's (never understood why) and getting a possible 8 power fist attacks on the counter hitting on 3's is damn sexy and you won't regret it. :)

Even if they're leading storm claws I'd advise using a power fist, and the storm claws just get power weapons.

It's been a while but I remember it was always worth it to deck out my pack leaders, even if your whole squad dies before they get to go they can with a power fist take out far more than their points are worth.

its always worth it to kit out your 13th company pack leaders

heres my average kit out: bolt pistol, powerweapon, wolf pelt, MotW, runic charm.

you get 3 base attack +d3 +1 for charging, + 1 extra ccw= 8 power weapon attacks -1 if you bring a powerfist

when charged: 3 base attack + d3 + 1 counter charge (if passed) + 1 wolf pelt +1 extra ccw= 9 power weapon attacks

these guys are the back bone of your troops and elites. they can take on anyone and anything and will make most if not all squads run or die. i always give every squad a wulfen pack leader if i can.
