Dreyco
So here my my converted model for a stand in Shrike. He is only base colored, but C&C welcome. If you'd like to know the fluff behind him that I'm working on check it out here http://webpages.charter.net/w00t/dreyf.JPG http://webpages.charter.net/w00t/dreys.JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/ Share on other sites
The Emperor's Champion
THAT thing is stealthy? He's bright green, gold and has a 32 foot wing span! He's like the least stealthy Marine EVER! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1750521 Share on other sites
Dreyco
They fold up :) I can't imagine marines in all that armor being too stealthy anyway and much less with a jumppack. Thanks for the comment. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1750535 Share on other sites
WingsOfTheFalcon
Nice conversion! As it's a 'counts as' Shrike there's no need for stealth! Personally I'd think about painting his boots green to match the rest of his legs, otherwise they have a quite 'shoe'y look. Look forward to seeing it progress. Where is the head from btw? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1750680 Share on other sites
King Tiger
I'm gonna be honest, it needs work thin your paints, that paint is rather thick everywhere undercoat, I can see the grey plastic in areas, which points to a none undercoated model, this will reduce the number of coats you need on areas and will mean the paint stays on longer work from dark to light, for everything work from a darker color to your lighter color, it will again reduce your number of coats and give a stronger color, in places that gold is practically see through Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1750710 Share on other sites
Dreyco
If I thin my paints they don't cover in 3 or so coats, I'm not even close to being done just WIP, so the gold is just for an idea of where it goes. But I will be sure to work from dark to light, thanks for the comment. Anywho the head is from HERE Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1751149 Share on other sites
kanan
+++ edit +++ my reply isnt necessary now due to the person who posted before me getting their post deleted from this thread. and sorry Dreyco for not commenting before about your work. to be honest if youre pretty new to the hobby, hell new to painting and general miniature building, id say you have made a fine start. now youve got a taste for it why not try thinning your paints with a couple of drops of water, perhaps look at what colours go together when youre painting and maybe try looking up basic painting techniques on the tutorials section of the WIP B&C forum. to be honest if youre serious about the hobby go buy the citadel painting guide and have a browse of the GW website for ideas and inspiration as theres a wealth of information there that will help you build up your skills and help you get better at what youre doing. plus just ask someone here. theres alot of people that would be more than happy to lend you a hand with regards to advice ect. just keep at it. W40K is a hobby and should be fun and as long as youre having fun with what youre doing then everything you do has value. peace Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/150589-captain-dreyconis/#findComment-1751356 Share on other sites

Shortsonfire79
I think its one of those things introduced in the DA sprue...the thing that looks like two sticks tied together, but I think they're supposed to be scrolls... cathar the great
I think its one of those things introduced in the DA sprue...the thing that looks like two sticks tied together, but I think they're supposed to be scrolls... lol, this stuff has been around much longer. As far as I remember, they were already included in the first Tac Squad I bought three years ago. Most people think they are Nunchakos (how the f do you spell that?) @dreyco: the conversion is not bad, you use some nive bits. But overall, it's just a bit too much, with both the giant claws, the beard AND the wings. But keep up your work and don't be discouraged! Disistablishmentarianism
they are scroll tubes i think, Lies and slander, they be nunchuks, which happen to have words of hate written on napkins hidden inside. Nice conversion, but I agree with most of the other posts. Thinning your paints is really worth it, and take your time on models (more so ones you spent a while converting/HQs), feel free to call everyone an idiot and continue this way (thats what I did :pinch:). And if you're going to post, at least be constructive in some way or another, don't just say 'you suck', it's not nice. Dreyco
yes they are scrolls hanging off. I will have to try thinning paints a go. This is probably the fifth model I'm painting. I like to build but not paint so much. Thanks for the comments I'll be sure to give them some thought. LuNCHBiZZLe
nice job so far,a few thined coats to make the black less visible and a wash is what i would suggest.also as wings said the feet look a little shoe like not being the same color as the legs.you might want to change that but its personal preferace(?).
