Every traitor fears the piecing blue eyes of Inquisitor Lord Harkol Sal and his mighty force sword.

Inquisitor Lord Sal is renowned across the area of space near the Maelstrom.

He has lead many fights against the warp spawned terror that pours out of the gates. But not only has he proved himself against the demons of the warp but he has more the once defeated the traitors of the chaos space marines and the renegade imperial guard.

The Lord has proven himself from sieges against the forces of chaos, using his trusted Inquisitorial Stormtroopers to hold the walls. His trusted guardsmen, and their highly customised plasma guns, unleashing controlled volleys into the oncoming onslaught. Before, seeing a weakness in the assault, launching devastating counter-attacks with the fearless Grey Knights, leading the assault himself.

His assaults are just a renowned, it has been noted that Sal excessive use of the operatives of the Officio Assassinorum, the legendary Assassins.

He uses the stealth tactics of mainly the Callidus and the Vindicare Temple Assassins to eliminate the high commander of the enemy before swiftly launching a devastating assault on the forces fortress.

These tactics have made him a legendary character across the Maelstrom, and it is because of this that once an Imperial force hears of the arrival of the Inquisitor Lord Sal, then their hearts are lifted and they fight with renewed vigour and faith.

Many times the Lord of Macragge Marnus Calgar has requested his presence on a pressing matter. Although Calgar has never actually taken to the field with Sal but the Captain of the 2nd Company Cato Sicarius, has fought along side Sal.

These incidents haven't been of much importance apart from one.

On the Eastern font the new threat of the Tau Empire is in it's 3rd Sphere of Expansion and it has now invaded Imperial Space. But this incident named the Athenian Campaign, was invested with the power of chaos.

Scout Sergeant Telion had infiltrated into the Tau compound and had spotted a crystal glowing with the ruinous powers. Telion immediately reported this to Captain Sicarius, who was deeply concerned about the powers that the xenos could harness, even if they didn't know the true power of the crystal.

Cato Sicarius immediately reported to his High Lord Calgar to ask for his advice, and Calgar knew exactly what to do. He had to call in the Inquisition and the closest Inquisitor was Sal.

Sal's Mystic had found the message travelling the warp and read it. As soon as Sal knew he replied back to Lord Calgar as he took his might strike cruiser 'The Blade of Justice' on to the Eastern Fringe. Even though his forces had been weakened by years of battles against the forces of chaos.

And it was there that he met Sicarius, who swiftly gave command of the Athenian Campaign over Lord Inquisitor Sal. Sal himself knew of Sicarius' skill as a tactical leader and so utilised his intelligence of the enemy to the full.

With the scouting parties lead by Telion , the brilliant tactical mind of Sicarius, and the pure divine justice of Sal. The joint armies of the Ultramarines 2nd Company and the weakened but powerful forces of Sal fell onto the unprepared Tau force.

But the Tau were waiting for them, defences cannons were on-line and fire warriors manned the defensive walls around the encampment.

Sicarius had no idea how the Tau knew of the attack it seemed impossible.

But everything about the warp seems impossible, Sal knew why they were prepared.

They had unlocked the demon crystal. Which meant one thing the Tau were possessed.

And so it was proved he tau defences were unbreakable, and the savage Kroot were completely bestial. Sal pulled back. He waited out side of firing range of the Tau until he had a plan.

And then he had it.

He told Sicarius to launch an assault on the eastern side of the Tau camp, drawing the forces of the possessed aliens across the fortress to that side. At which point he left back for his Strike Cruiser with the 2 Assault squads of the Ultramarines and handful of Tactical Marines and his entire force (except for his Guardsmen who kept Sal's spirit on the field).

At which point he ordered all men in the strike cruiser aboard the very few drop pods and single Thunderhawk Gunship.

As soon as Sicarius has activated his locator beacon the pods flew forth.

They crashed right into the centre of the Tau camp, Sal ordered that the Grey Knights help the Ultramarines out on the eastern side and crush the main force between the hammer and the anvil.

At which point he sent the assault marines to slay anyone they could find and the other marines to set up a fire base with the Inquisitional stormtroopers around the drop pods.

Sal then left swiftly to find the root of all of this power, the Daemonic Crystal.

He made straight for the main building where he found it heavily defended. He quickly ordered that the Thunderhawk unleash it salvo of missiles directly into the building, which promptly blew it apart.

As Sal clambered through the wreckage one defender stood. The Tau commander who brought a huge fusion gun up aimed directly at Sal face, and the none of his Acolytes dived towards the heretical commander but was caught in the fusion blast which blew him apart.

At which point Sal thrust his mighty force weapon through the armour of the Tau like it was butter and blew the fuel tanks that supplied the jump pack. In hail of shrapnel the commander was blown apart.

Which left the way to the crystal clear. Sal then used all of his psychic powers channelled through his blade and brought the huge sword now wreathed in flame smashing down upon the crystal shattering it. He then drew his blessed Incinerator and torched the remains.

With news of the Ultramarines victory of the Eastern wall, Sal ordered the advance of all units to eliminate all traces of the daemonic aliens.

And with that he bid his fair-wells to Sicarius and headed back to the Maelstrom

And so that is the might of Inquisitor Lord Sal might vanquisher of the possessed and the mutated.

Chapter Ancient Dras Makiel

Bearer of the Banner of Night

Makiel is the honoured bearer of the Chapter Banner of the Black Spectres: the Banner of Night. It depicts an angel crowned with a nimbus of light, half masked, raising a bloodied sword to the sky, whilst standing over the body of an Eldar Guardian. It is the physical manifestation of the Chapter’s hatred for the Eldar and serves as a permanent reminder of the death of Sla. It has been borne for centuries passing from bearer to bearer; it’s a matter of pride for the chapter that it has never fallen. Makiel has been its trusted bearer for the last half a century, after the death of its previous protector Praectus.

Makiel is just over two centuries old. He, like the entire chapter, was born on Unitate, surviving the constant gang war daily, before being inducted into the chapter. Makiel, when not in war, can often be found in the Librarium reading passage upon passage of battle tactica. He is considered the greatest of the chapter’s strategists, and therefore is occasionally called upon by other members of the chapter for tactical advice. Makiel is afforded great respect by his brothers, not just for his role but for his humility and sense of brotherhood. Many a time has Makiel lead a force of marines to rescue lost or captured brothers – even when he has had to argue against the Chapter Master himself.

When he first joined the chapter Makiel was considered a line marine, who would at best aspire to the rank of Veteran Sergeant. However, after several campaigns Makiel’s true colours began to show. Already he had wagered his life to save those of his brothers countless times. He had been gifted the Honourifica Valorum, despite his young age. After just over a half centuries’ worth of service Makiel was inducted into the 1st Company, the youngest to do so within the chapter. His great valour and courage continued to bring him honour after honour, including the Imperial Laurel and the Iron Halo, and eventually becoming Banner Bearer of the 1st Company.

It was just over fifty years later than Makiel was inducted into the Chapter Master’s Honour Guard in recognition of his valorous actions and strategic abilities. He warmed to the position quickly continuing to carve his name into the chapter’s Book of Honour time and gain. Then at the Destruction of the Helspont upon the death of Praectus, Makiel was passed the Banner of Night. He bore it into the heart of the enemy encampment, cutting down whole swathes of the enemy in vengeance of his predecessors’ death.

Makiel relishes his position. He uses his powers with great care. Often requesting to lead his brothers from the fore, laying complex strategies enabling him to swiftly cut down an opposing army and prevent the needless deaths of his brothers. It will be a sad day for the chapter when this warrior falls.

Revered Ancient Brother Ezio Dolmaern

Brother Sergeant Ezio’s first great claim to fame came from his actions during the Salmersia Incursion when he led his squad on a desperate counter attack to seal off one of the many warp rifts through which the daemons were entering the world. His squad, although loosing many of its men, managed to close the rift and in recognition of his achievements Ezio was eventually promoted to Captain of the Ebon Lords 3rd Company. Ezio was still in this role when the Chapter attacked the world of Ylir, and indeed Ezio led the first assault on the massive fortress there. Fighting shoulder to shoulder with his brother Ebon Lords against both guardsmen and marines his bravery and skill was much lauded by the Chapter’s command. During those bloody days Ezio was badly injured when he was struck by a plasma blast. Lying near death Ezio was interred in one of the Chapter’s Dreadnoughts. He was awakened shortly there-after to witness the destruction of much of the chapter, their condemnation by the Inquisition, the loss of their homeworld and the beginning of the Chapters penitent crusade. It was with great sadness that Ezio had his heraldry covered with the black silken cloth for, in his heart, he still believed that the Chapter had been correct in it’s actions.

In those days following the Ebon Lords punishment Ezio was instrumental in the Chapter’s survival. With many of the Chapter’s leaders dead and with a sudden loss of resources and source for recruits it was often Ezio’s wise voice that steeled the hearts of his brother marines and drove them on. Though he himself didn’t believe the words he spoke he counselled that the Chapter forfill its punishment and that they strive ever harder to show their loyalty. Many Marines of the Ebon Lords’ failing spirits were raised by the towering sight of Ezio, his twin linked lascannon cutting a swathe through the ranks of the enemy. For they knew that if one whom could loose so much for the Chapter yet could still continue fighting, then so could they.

Although Ezio’s wisdom is much relied upon by the current Chapter command staff it seems the ancient warrior is spending more and more time asleep, woken only when the Chapter’s need is greatest. Perhaps, as the Chapter’s Crusade draws to a close, Ezio feels that his wisdom is no longer needed. Or perhaps the ancient simply tires of war and loss. It is whispered that each time Ezio strides onto the battlefield he seeks death, so that he may finally rest at the Emperor’s side. Whatever the truth is behind why the ancient sleeps more the Master of the Forge lets the legendary warrior have his rest , for all in the Chapter know he has more then earned it.

The Krakens

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f219/Hasoroth/CaptainAleserSeif.jpg

Captain of the 2nd Company.

The Far Watcher

The Seeker

The Dawn Chaser

Brother Aleser Seif:-

Born: 904.M40

Acceptance: 920.M40

Initiation: 922.M40

Promotion to Sergeant: 934.M40

Promotion to Captain: 087.M41

Internment within sarcophagus: 129.M41

Tenure: 087.M41 to 999.M41 (Current)

Personality:

The Far Watcher is a reserved man. By all accounts from his comrades in arms, even before his internment within the sacred sarcophagi of the Dreadnought he was withdrawn and bookish Astarte, preferring the company of tomes and data slates to his own Brothers. Although seemingly an unwanted trait within a line officer of the Astartes, the bibliophilic and silent Captain Seif is respected, if not revered by his fellow warriors for the changes in him in battle, when his scholarly exterior changes into a fearsome gaze. Legendary for both his combat prowess and his track record, the Dawn Chaser hails from the southern lands of Aequor, desert plains at odd with the oceans that make up eighty two percent of the worlds surface.

The desert plains follow a mono-dominant philosophy. Notoriously strict and solitary raiders, they eke out a living within the phosphate deserts, preying on one another’s caxen herds and purifying the salt water of the turbulent oceans. Aleser has inherited the traits of the desert nomads, and it is highly evident within the company. The second company is notorious for their implacable zeal and organization, ready to move at a moment’s notice. Indeed, it has been noticed by my colleagues, that Seif’s ship, Star Reiver has been in constant motion, moving from campaign to campaign.

Infamously hard line, Aleser retains powers reminiscent of the Commissariat; it is written within the second company charter that the Captain retains the power of life, or death in his command. The circumstances that required such a document is unknown (the document in question is a relic of the highest order may I add, our query teams took a discreet photo, showing the signature of Roboute Guilliman [The Kraken’s claim of Second Generation Founding appear to be justified]) but what is known is that in the last millennium of service, only a dozen such executions have been carried out, all of them by the hand of Aleser.

The Seeker is a man of many dichotomies. Although he maintains such grotesque powers, and exercises these powers regularly, he is almost, gentle. In our interviews with him, he was more than content to engage in discourse with us, showing an interest in the mercantile happenings of our capital, and appeared to be genuinely supportive of our efforts to establish communication between our Lord Governor’s office and the Krakens. I suppose in war, a Marine changes as needs must, but it was generally thought by the query staff, that Captain Aleser Seif was a balanced individual, at once an angel of the Emperor’s light and an angel of the Emperor’s wrath.

History:

Even during the beginning of his career, Seif showed signs of greatness. During the Duro Conflict, Aleser personally carried every casualty of his combat squad back to friendly lines, before returning to his station by alone. Then Captain Egemon did not realize the youth had maintained the line until several hours later, after the Conflict’s conclusion, when a battered future Captain reported his combat status, having suffered the brunt of the heretic’s last push by himself.

These shows of solitary fortitude would continue to show themselves, from the Skirmish at the Blood Moon, to the capture of the Blood Stone, the Captain would frequently find himself isolated or cut off from Imperial forces, made to survive by his own wits. Indeed, his prowess was so noticeable as a free ranging element, that Captain Egemon promoted Seif to lead the company’s recon combat squad, traditionally the organization for the free spirited of the company.

Seif’s introduction changed the rowdy organization into stern, taciturn scouts, pride of the company and often acting honour guards for Captain Egemon during ceremonial occasions. Such was there reputation that requests were made by Captains of other companies to borrow the self styled Venators. It was in this capacity that Aleser would establish his ability to lead and reform. His combat prowess and courage had been proven by his exploits on the blasted plains of Gremrock and the death world Vragant. It was widely received that Aleser was a strong contender for the position of Captaincy. After Egemon’s lamented death at the hands of Eldar pirates, Aleser was appointed Captain by the congress of Sergeant’s in second company.

In the century after his promotion, Aleser was often much lauded and whispers of his ascension to command of first company, and maybe even of the Chapter was not unheard of. Though quiet, he was charismatic when the situation called for it, and none could doubt his skills on the battlefield, on a personal level or strategic. His glories on the battlefield of Escada Seven all but cemented his succession, where his entire company crushed a heretic uprising backed by a cell of Alpha Legion warriors without the loss of a single Imperial Astarte.

It was a tragedy perhaps, that upon receiving a distress call from the fortress world of Dicah during a routine refuelling, Aleser gallantly left to defend the world, where his hopes of achieving Chapter Mastery were dashed by Ork bombardment and finished off by near fatal wounds caused by Gargant fire.

The apothecaries of second company did what they could; alternating between periods of stasis and surgery to try and bring Aleser back to full operational capability but it was not to be. The stricken Captain raged with a vigour that belied his physical vigour and normal personality, fearing that he would never be able to face the enemies of the Imperium anymore, and that he would lose his command of second company. It was a blessing that upon internment within the sacred Dreadnought chassis, the same congress of Sergeant’s that had voted Aleser to his post unanimously voted to keep him in power, despite the mitigating factors of his new form.

To say that Aleser has a stellar record is an understatement; indeed, his grievous wounding by the foul Orks seems only to have spurred him on to greater heights. Discourse with Apothecary Tahir has revealed that the Captain revels in his new frame, a fact confirmed by the Dawn Chaser himself. He maintains the vigour of a much younger initiate, unwilling to sleep (as is the general revered custom of the ancient Dreadnoughts) the centuries away. Whispers still seethe that Aleser could one day don the mantle of Chapter Master, his war record has found ways to improve upon himself, and day after day he wins himself more devoted warriors, fascinated with the Far Watcher who commands beyond death.

Battle Honours:

Medallion Crimson – Awarded as a symbol of union between Imperial Guard forces.

Iron Fist – Awarded for exemplary combat ratios over multiple theatres of war.

Iron Chalice – Awarded for winning the Chapter’s bicentennial honour combats.

Blue Crown– Awarded for successful prosecution of extermination of an undisclosed xeno race.

Aquila with Oak Leaves – His successful last stand against the orks, leading to his internment. For a week and a day, Captain Seif led the company in defending a breach in the walls of Fortress Primus Foebane.

Arms:

Although Aleser’s new frame prevent him from using most of the traditional weapons of second company Captain, namely the venerable Executor Bolt Pistol “Wrath of the Ubaid” and the Lightning Gauntlet “Qasim”. The arms are locked in a holy reliquary in the Kraken’s fortress monastery, the Black Mountain, ready to be utilized once again, by a new Captain. Aleser’s Dreadnought chassis is armed with two triple-linked autocannons, personal gifts of the Magos Seniorus of Triest for second companies’ defence of the Forgeworld from the very same insidious Eldar marauders that laid low Egemon. The beautifully crafted weapons, jokingly referred to by the Captain as “Left” and “Right” and more reverentially by the rest of the Chapter as the “God-Hammers” serve the Captain well, as he continues to bring the fight to the foes of mankind.

Company Master Sangueriero of the Dark Angels 3rd:

Not much is knowm about Lazurus Sangueriero before he was elevated to the rank of Master. He is a quiet brooding character at times yet Is hyper deadly in the brutal melee of close combat, his twin power swords cutting down any and all foes in a bloody tornado. He has a very illustrious combat record, with kills higher than all but Azrael and Belial. He also took on a Tyranid carnifex single handedly. Always leads from his land raider with his mechanized company.

The Lay of Larot

As requested milord, I have translated the text given to me to the best of the department's abilities. Where the wording has been unclear, a decision has been made by myself to adjust it or a note has been entered. Several of the terms need inside knowledge to comprehend their meaning. It seems that the chapter uses tattooing extensively and several times it appears a particular tattoo is mentioned. Another area of uncertainty is the use of ranks among the chapter, with such terms as Kull and Tar-Kull. Meanings have been estimated, with the greatest probabilities being entered in the Notes.

Lexmechanic's Note

1: The marines appear to refer to the Emperor as the Eagle. Whether this is a result of translation of the primitive language or if the marines belief patterns are significantly lower than expected is unknown.

2: Author appears to change here, judging by vocabulary and content. Initial stage of Lay appears to be of the tribal people that live on the homeworld of the chapter while the rest of the Lay appears to be written by a marine.

3: Krezka appears to be a tattoo honour marking.

4: Kull may be equivalent to a Sergeant rank. Literal meaning is 'warbearer'.

5: A tattoo or marking that appears to mark the marine as a member of the 5th Company.

6: The Sken is likely to be another honour marking for the Kull position.

7: Oracles of Change are noted as being a renegade chapter.

8: Untranslatable, possibly a swear word.

9: Talkar is likely to be the rank of Chapter Master. Literal meaning is 'Supreme War Chief'.

10: Kratag translates as "Gryphon Claw". It appears to be a position within the First Company of the chapter.

Shadow born, he was

In the darkness of midnight
He took fire and steel as his own
For before him only the foolhardy stood
Only of 15 summers, yet man above others
Shadow blessed, eagle[1] touched, vengeance sworn

And so the shades that served the eagle came
Taking the boy, they ascended
For he would face the shadow and the fire
To take them as his own
He would take his place among them
For the eagle wished it so[2]

Youngest of all, only one face-marking to his name
Yet steel he retained and fire he made
Only two combats had his blade tasted
Yet the Krezka[3] he was granted
By his blade and his aim, the eagle claimed the unworthy
Through the shadow, havoc caused

Judged worthy by his Kull[4]
He received the final gift of the eagle
And stepped fully into the shadow
The Fifth accepting him as their own
He received his bolter and the Kjart[5] of the Fifth
Taking his place among his brothers

The green skins of Olot tasted his anger
The foresworn traitors of Raxis were bled dry
And the bearers of the word were thwarted on Talt
Steel was honed, his fire grew ever brighter
And the shadow cloaked him from his enemies
Larot rose, becoming Kull over his brothers
Taking the Sken[6] upon his flesh
And the flesh reaver, Rubilacse, as his own

And so the shadow shared in his victory
As the heretic, xenos and traitor died before his blade
Until the day of darkest despair
When the steel would be bent and fire extinguished
And the shadow provide no home
The day of reckoning, of rage

It was upon Marand that this would come to pass
Upon the orb, traitors walked openly, loyalists long gone
The Fifth attacked the heretics from the stars
Only Larot and a score remained above
In the hives of the darkened planet,
Heresy revealed, a destiny forged

From portals of greatest darkness, Astartes strode
The twisted brethren of the Oracles of Change revealed[7]
Once brothers, now scarzag[8] traitors
In their treacherous footsteps danced daemons
In their thousands, the daemons came
The Fifth sold their lives dearly
Oracles, daemons and men lay at their feet
As they stood alone in the blackened ruins

Larot watched from the sky
Rage darkened his brow as his orders were given
Fate conspired against him and he could do nothing
The Fifth demanded a clean death at the hands of their brothers
Not from the depredations of the daemonic kin
The planet must not fall to the warp-spawned darkness

Larot would grant them this
From the sky rained immovable death
Fire cleansing all below
Till the planet was scoured
And 78 of the Fifth granted their place
In the Hall of the Eagle

Yet from behind the planet emerged another threat
The traitors who had brought warp spawn and death
Escaped from the ruin, their survival now known
The Astartes watched helpless as their foe departed
The Oracles of Change fled from the vengeful survivors
Leaving Larot Worldkiller alone in his rage

He swore revenge upon his soul
That the traitors leader would die
And the Fifth avenged gloriously
Or Larot's soul would not find its place
In the Hall of the Eagle
A death oath sworn, a destiny decided

Anointing three marines as bearers of truth,
He sent them back to the chapter
Left with only 24 brothers and 143 serfs
He cloaked himself in vengeful darkness
And the pursuit of the heretics began

Through the systems, the trail of destruction was followed
The Oracles would be brought to justice
Their leader executed to repay the Fifth
And save a soul from its doom
For four years, the marines followed
Then the world of Kort was found

Upon Kort, the first stirrings of heresy were found
The pristine world had remained loyal for millennia
Lorat's instincts stirred, his suspicion awakened
Could the Oracles be behind this?
4 score serfs and 8 marines descended to the planet
And created cells among the planet

It was not long until resistance was discovered
Chaos cults were found, hiding beneath
Astartes and serf stalked into the shadow
A covert war began in the darkness
Fire purged the corruption
And steel slew the serpent
Civilians lived on, oblivious
As their fate was decided.

Larot walked the shadows of the city
Slaying any who displayed corruption
Only few evaded the net cast
Larot awaited his opponents move
Awaited his chance to strike

Rumours of daemons spread through the city
Larot committed all to the fight
As he knew the Oracles had now arrived
Through the shadow, serf tracked cultist
And Astartes tracked traitorous brethren
Many fell but the heretics paid more
50 Oracles had been purged
But still the leader drew breath

Desperation seized the leader of the Oracles
Chancing his arm, the Sorcerer struck
The Arbites fell as the Dark Kin stalked
The first citadel fell as Lorat gathered strength
As the foe moved on the Palace
The Gryphon Guard struck

Lorat and 17 of his kin still wielded blade
Against 12 Oracles and a Sorcerer
Serfs and cultist clashed as their masters fought
Ambush and counter attack played across the city
Till Sorcerer and Lorat stood helm to helm

The two mighty titans fought blade to staff
Rubilacse fought chaos touched staff
Rage battled against indifference
The Sorcerer gained dominance
Premonition guiding his weapon
Yet Lorat would not yield

Calling on all his rage, Lorat struck
Again and again and again and again
The Sorcerer snarled, his rage palpable
Knocking the Astartes to his back
Weapon long gone
The Sorcerer loomed large, power evident

Darkness descended upon the world
The Sorcerer paused as the sun disappeared
He looked for his foe but Lorat was gone
A chuckle came from the shadow
As the Sorcerer sought for him in vain
Then with one blow, Rubilacse fell
Claiming the revenge of the Fifth
And Lorat's soul
With its head gone, the serpent fell apart
Kort was saved

Revenge had been served
A death oath absolved
Lorat returned to the chapter
To face the Talkar[9]
A hero's return awaited
Lorat Worldkiller, Avenger, Oracle-Slayer
Talkar Maro welcomed the marines
The 11 survivors were accepted into the First
Their legends increased, yet one outshone all

Lorat became Kratag[10], bearer of the Liridna
Still his legend grows as foes fall before him
Lorat Kratag
Shadow-Blessed
Eagle-Touched
Worldkiller
Soul-Death Sworn
Avenger
Oracle-Slayer
Bane of the Greenskins
Slayer of Warpspawn
Bearer of Flame

Salire the Tearer

Originally a true and honest member of the Astral Claws, Salire fought for years to protect the Imperium together with the rest of his gene-brothers. It’s of little surprise that the genetic flaw revealed Lufgt Huron, and later the entire Astral Claws Chapter, would manifest within the heart of Salire as well, and thus when the time for Huron’s betrayal came about, Salire did the same as the rest of his gene-brothers. He sided with Huron.

Merely a brother-sergeant at the time of the Claws’ turn Salire quickly rose in rank as those who found themselves ill-fated fell during the drawn out siege of their home world. Having sworn himself to Chaos, like so many others, Salire soon began to manifest psychic powers. At first being limited only to hazy visions and a somewhat ability to read the minds of others, Salire quickly set out to use his new-found powers to further his own goals. Like so many others his greed knowing no bounds and his thirst of power letting nothing stand in his way.

By the time the Palace of Thorns fell Salire had gained command of three full squads of Astral Claws, and at the same time he had become fully devoured by a need to further increase his psychic powers. Drowning himself in study of the occult and religious prayer the latent arcane potential hidden within him blossomed. The earlier hazy visions suddenly becoming clearer, his mind-reading ability become stronger as well, all while developing new, much more frightening powers.

Gifted by his now clearer visions Salire quickly forsaw the fall of the Palace, and accordingly acted by taking the men under his command with him in a stolen frigate into the Maelstrom in an attempt to evade the unforgiving executers of the Imperium. Later rallying with his Chapter Master, formerly Lufgt Huron – now Huron Blackheart, Salire became part of the first generation of Red Corsairs. Huron’s new, piratical, fighting force.

Over the centuries which now had passed since the flight from Badab, Salire had honed his psychic powers and now he was able to completely tear a man apart with just a simple thought, a power which came to earn him the nickname “Salire the Tearer”. Still, unable to settle in, Salire found himself stuck with the craving to increase his powers.

Taking the squads of Red Corsairs under his command and re-seizing the very same frigate he had used to flee Badab, Salire left the side of Huron and travelled deeper into the Maelstrom, his path set only by the whims of the Dark Gods.

Inquisitor Christian Kleinhounder, Righteous Hand of the Subji System, Errant Guard of Monhüsser, Bane of the Thein Sielder, Ordo Xenos.

Veteran of the Pythian Armoured Cavalry, Christian Kleinhounder was first indoctrinated into the ranks of the Emperor’s Inquisition by the faithful Inquisitor Bastian during the uprising of Fuhmer VI. Christian’s quick gun hand, grudging determination and charming smile made him a perfect companion for the travelling Inquisitor. The two spent three successful decades hunting out the foul alien presence across the Juhul sub-sector with Christian rising through Bastian’s staff to become his most trusted advisor. Upon the thirty-fifth anniversary of their meeting, his liege sponsored Christian to the full rank of Inquisitor, an honour granted later that year. Since then his career has been one of continued success, loyal service and diligence to the Imperium.

Highlights of his history include the total destruction of the Xenos presence in the Subji system were human sympathisers laid a golden pathway for their alien overlords into the very heart of the system. An investigation that took over nine years and his entire staff allowed Christian to locate and terminate all known traitors who had sided with the aliens, destabilising the coming invasion of the prime world of the system. With the assistance of the Imperial Navy, a large force of Imperial Guard and two detachments of Astartes, the xenos force was annihilated.

Another great victory for the Imperium which would have not occurred without the hand of Christian is the continued subjugating of the Thein Sielder, a race of humans which have evolved after many millennia of isolation. Though not truly aliens, their culture, technology and biology vary enough from the human standard to warrant the interest of the Ordo Xenos. Kleinhounder spent over three decades chronicling all that is known about the race of sub-humans, penning the rather witty book Thein Sielder, our brothers forgone. Although the race is now on the brink of extinction, his writings still remain popular amongst young Inquisitors and Interrogators as a more humorous approach to research of a Xenos race.

His faith in the puritan teachings has not wavered during his life like so many greats who fall to the pleasurable whisperings of the radical way. Whilst many puritans are disliked by their radical brothers, Christian is well liked by both parties. Although he does not follow the radical way his does not condemn those who practise its art only suggesting that a more watchful eye be kept on those who travel closer to the sun. Unfortunately he was once subjected to three years in an Inquisitorial Prison, a time he spent reading many books he admitted he ‘never would have read if it wasn’t for this glorious holiday from the torment of work.’ He was released after the true intentions of his keeper were revealed, a fellow Inquisitor who had became entwined in a xenos plan to dominate an Imperial world.

Whilst many members of his order will hide away, disguising themselves as mere civilians of the Imperium or lesser, Kleinhounder displays his authority proudly on his chest constantly, believing in the old saying ‘How can my enemy fear me if he does not know I am after him?’ His cocky swagger and out-right belief that his is right has caused many men of authorities to crack under his pressure. His quick gun-hand is still one of his most valuable assets as on more than a handful occasion his blatant presence has caused for a fire fight to break out.

Duke Ranik Hellhammer Inquisitor Lord of the Ordo Hereticus

“for crimes against the emperium you have given me a chance to have some fun…girls lets play” Duke Ranik to the rouge governor of Tartars II except from Duke Ranik Hellhammer against the Demon Queen of Tartars II

He was the Second son of a planetary governor, when the black ships came to do a sweep of the system the governor opened his home to the inquisitor in charge and Ranik became to ask questions, the inquisitor had laughed at the barrage of questions and decided to take the Second son, then only about 15, the inquisitor decided to take him with her

The next time he is seen on his home planet was at the head of a contingent of Inquisition Storm troopers and Adepta Sororitas to put down a uprising, he moved through the halls of his old home with the Sororitas Canoness, stopping and pointing out notable figures in his family, when they found his older brother, the now governor he was a decrypted man given over to Slaanesh.

In the end his family was destroyed, much of the city to, and planet also, he stood there looking out of his old balcony as the Canoness moved out and stood next to him, Ranik then dedicated his own world as a shrine world, with a Adepta Sororitas Monastery and relinquished control to the Ecclesiarch

Now, as time has passed he has a Acolyte of his own, a Sage, 2 Veteran Warriors, a Penitent Pariah and a Chirungeon and 2 blessed Celestian squads made up from women of his home world and a assassin he has taken as his lover, his home world as a statue of him holding the weapon of his family the Hellhammer a ancient Daemon hammer and a suit of power armor gifted to him by a chapter of space marines he had helped by exposing a captain about to defect to chaos

He can always be found with in the Segmentum Tempestus on his ship the Dark Oman a old Retribution class battleship he had converted to carry his troops around and often finds him self ferrying imperial guard troops between theaters, to cheek them for purity when they become suspect, or to commandeer them for his own battles from time to time

At times his life tends to come from all sides, his personal scribe and him and started on a plan to bring the dangers of everyday life to the public, they write and transmit Inquisitorial Approved versions of his deeds and publish out, heretics and rouge planet governors have risen the planets who use have his books are known to have more public help and better PDF recruitment turn out then others.

As a Inquisitor he has read much like the works of Rouge Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Eisenhorn and Ravenor along with many others, his ship carries a extensive library of books, books on alien languages and physiology

Only into his first century as a Inquisitor he has a mixed grouping around him, on some out lying planet he had won a pair of Kroot hounds and keeps them as pets, the Ordo Xenos has complained to him about this is only answer is they are animals, he has several children in the galaxy, his eldest daughter leads his Celestine retinue and his son, unbeknown to the son, is a Grey knight Chaplin now, the others are all in Commiserate training, and 2 have ended up in his Storm trooper forces

Rodolphe Ares

Chapter Master of the Marines Iratus

As far as Chapter Foundings are concerned, the forces of the Adeptus Astartes have experienced three horrific pieces of bad luck. The Thirteenth Founding, now universally referred to as the Dark Founding, gave life to Chapters unknown as their records were destroyed during the Age of Apostasy by the insane Goge Vandire, High Lord of the Administratum. The Twenty-First Founding bore six Chapters who have since become the playthings of chance, the Fire Hawks descended into the Warp and emerged as the Legion of the Damned; the Lamenters revolted in the Badab War, dogged with an ever-present spectre of misfortune; the Flame Falcons were immolated in fire they believed was sent by the Emperor himself, but were destroyed en masse shortly after by a zealous member of the Ordo Malleus.

The third went unnoticed for many millennia, until the Marines Iratus burst into the galaxy fully-formed and utterly enraged. First contact with made with the lost Chapter on the surface of Malodrax, an Iron Warriors stronghold at the very edge of the Eye of Terror by the Imperial Fists – along with the entire First Company, Captain Darnath Lysander led a strategic assault on the traitors in an attempt to disrupt the incessant production of munitions and armour for the forces of the Ruinous Powers. Lysander himself had good reason to wish the fortresses destroyed, as the Iron Warriors had tortured him for many months just after he and his ship had emerged from the Warp. Upon making planetfall in the centre of the planet’s capital “city” thanks to the heroic efforts of a young scout who had perished setting up a teleport homer, however, the Imperial Fists were greeted with an apocalyptic scene – the city had been sacked. Fires raged unchecked, the streets lay littered with bodies of Daemons and traitors alike, and the sound of gunshots rang across the near-silent city.

Staying alert and aware for any possible dangers, Lysander and his hand-picked squad of Terminators began what could crudely be described as a reconnaissance mission, picking their way through the rubble and the broken metal, advancing towards the sound of shots, of screams and of bellowed curses. Quite what each of the Marines expected to find has never been recorded, but nobody ever thought the wave of destruction that had swept across the heretics’ stronghold was the work of one man – and, when the Fists happened across the man responsible, they found him surrounded by corpses, engaged in beating the last of his enemies to death with what appeared to be a dismembered leg. Upon noticing the new arrivals, the man, foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog, dropped into a fighting stance and enquired whether the Imperial Fists’ armour was yellow because it made it clear they were cowards or because they were too stupid to understand the concept of camouflage.

Such was the first contact with Rodolphe Ares. Though getting the full story from him was a difficult task, due to his incredible aggressiveness, his lust for fighting and his

attempts to goad everybody from Vladimir Pugh downwards

with some truly innovative curses, the tireless work of

Chaplain Lo let him piece together something passable.

Ares was the last of the Marines Iratus, a Chapter created in

the Dark Founding that, for reasons lost to the ages, were

simply more aggressive than other Marines. More aggressive

like how Khârn the Betrayer is more aggressive than a

new-born kitten. More aggressive to the tune of orders of

magnitude. That sort of thing. Along with the rest of his

Chapter, Ares had crashed on the surface of Malodrax and,

despite being set upon by millions upon millions of heretics,

traitors and Daemons, decided the odds were about even.

Ares claimed that he was the last Marine left alive, being the

only one who looted a suit of Terminator armour first. After

swift communication with the High Lords of Terra, it was

judged that the Marines Iratus deserved to live again for their

brave (if insane) deeds and the Chapter was swiftly rebuilt

with Ares installed as the defacto Chapter Master.
