Ultramarines Rhino

Sevano Tomasin

Recommended Posts

I've just finished painting this.

Its part of my coarse work for my GCSEs, based on some of the old GW "historical" paintings. THe drawing took me about 20 mins without the aid of a rhino to hand. The painting took about 2 hours.

What do you think for my first attempt?

Here's my next project, a little sneak-peak. 3 members of a deathwatch kill team I drew it after reading Leethal's series. Obviously, I put my own character in, he's the one on the right ;)

C&C welcome.

Thanks, S.T

The Rhino looks good and the colour seems pretty much spot on for the Ultramarines. One thing that comes to mind is that the perspective seems a little skewed - it's as if the sides of the Rhino get smaller the further back you go. I understand that this is partly perspective but the vanishing point appears too close for the sides of the Rhino to shrink so much. I hope this helps as you've got a really good start.

The second picture looks good - are you going to add any background to fill in the spaces between the marines?

Thanks.

I drew the rhino without one being infront of me, so the picture isn't the best it could be. Next time I think I'll chose a slightly different angle - I'm never that good at angles or lines lol.

As for the deathwatch, I have started painting it and added another member - a Dark Angel, DA succsesor or some chapter that wears robes. I've added a few servo-arms to the my techmarine on the right, and the background....I'm not quite sure how to do it. I think I'll paint out the thunderhawks in the sky, and put a sort of explosion behind them. If you want I'll show you the picture I based this on.

Thanks,

Thanks Brother-Captain Temeter.

My art class isn't that great - sure I get to select my subject and art references but - if I (or my class) get stuck I (we) are screwed. And I've spent the last year and a bit drawing, painting and making trains. Why did I choose trains? I have no-idea. But boy do I regret it.

If I do A-level art, you can expect a lot more of this kinda stuff from me  Run for your lives, hide your eyes!
