Any comments? I know the squad is not complete but over the next month I'm adding more Neophytes and some Initiates to make a decent 1 HQ and 2 Troops.

Nice work, particularly the Chaplain, nice and spartan yet at the same time enough colour and detail where it should be. the back banner is a nice touch. as a rule i don't like banners on marine's backpacks, but this one is nicely understated. keep up the good work! :o
verygood. crisp, and the tracks look nice. i'd consider giving a little more oomph to the highlights, but then again thats me. how did you do the gold and the black sword?

The tracks were done the GW way; Tin Bitz coat, drybrush of Boltgun Metal and a very rich wash of Bubonic Brown on top of that. (For those among you who care; if, after this, you want the tracks to look as though they've had some miles of hardened road just scrape a 2B pencil on the places you want to look "metal".

The highlights... Well, I've got an army of 13th Company Space Wolves ( http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=149613 ) and one of Salamanders ( http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=149615 ) and those look bright enough. I wanted my Templars to look darker. Hence the difference in backbanners; my Wolves have none, my Sallies have nice ones and my Templars have a very modest one. (only Templar mini I'm making with a banner.)

The Gold is easy enough; black basecoat (duh), Tin Bitz, Shining Gold drybrush and Burnished Gold highlights. I'm going to give all my silver and gold areas some more shine by giving them a good coat of Gloss Varnish. (Purity Seal tends to dull those details.)

The Black Sword... Well, I didn't want to make it black but to make it stand out. You can't see it that clear in these pics, but the letters are still black.

Black coat, Mithril Silver drybrush (a good couple of very light coats), Hawk Turquoise drybrush, Ice Blue drybrush, very light Skull White drybrush.

Took me about half an hour.

Sorry 'bout the paragraphs. But it should be readable nonetheless. ;)

Feel free to copy anything. But even though the Mithril doesn't seem evident, it really helps the blue shades look a lot brighter. If I had drybrushed the shades of blue up to white on a pure black background... Well, I think you can figure that out. Done it on a couple of other power swords and they definitely look darker.

These are the latest pics of my BT force so far. It's workable, but I want slash need bigger squads before I take them to a tournament. After this comes another Troops squad and some more Command squad models.

But first I need to paint some Salamander Terminators so I can field 1,500 pts of them at the next Tournament. (First one I'm attending, so wish me some luck...)
