Valhallan
The only I can really see at first glance is make sure you remove those mold lines better. But I like them. Better job then what I can do with yellow- a lot better. :)
Greycloak
Yes, too bad about the moldlines. And the yellow looks to be too thick, try to water it down a bit on your next model. That way it might take more coats before the yellow looks good but you get an even, smoother, result. Keep it up!
Valhallan
I got a question about painting yellow since its already kind of in this thread. When you water down yellow-how much water should you add and how long should you wait. Because when I paint yellow I water it down to much or not enough or dont wait long enough becuase I get impatient... :) Or I paint it and I want a long time but then because its watered down it moves some of the other paint. It just never works for me.
OwenCrute
Just follow my brother's recipe- no yellow paint involved, and his Fists look great! White spray undercoat mix 1:1 Fiery Orange and Skull White (you should get a peachy kinda colour) Highlight edges with watered-down Skull White twice for each edge Paint 1:1 Yellow Ink and Water all over anything that's yellow. Paint details, as well as putting brown ink in any and all recesses. to the OP: It looks a bit orange, could just be the light, and on one of the shoulderpads you've spilled red quite a ways on. Mega mold lines, and Fist trimmings such as wings and aquilas are red, according to my brother's army. I do like how well you've managed to dot the eyes, though. just another marine player
thanks 4 all the replies its much appreciated... the orange look is because of the light i hope to update the pics with better lit ones fairly soon as well as having pic of my tactical sergeant sorry about the mold lines never really thought too much of them but i will try harder to remove them next time... yeah i think i apply too much yellow too thickly because i just get impatient lol...but i think over time if i gradually build up the yellow it will work out a lot better... thanks again for all the replies
Hailfyre
I kinda like the yellow. maybe a little watering down but not a lot, they have a nice gritty look to them, which I personally like on my marines. defenetly not for everyone though. and out of curiosity, what did you paint before marines? arutha
like everyone else, just water it down just a hair and the brush stokes will not be visible. other than that hell of a job for yellow paint. im normally not a mould line nazi, but Bro!!! skeletay
If you want a tip with working with yellow, thin it with yellow ink instead of water. I'm not sure if GW still makes yellow ink, but if they don't, privateer press's paintline P3 makes it. It allows you to paint thin coats and not lose its opacity.
