My Black Razor.

I have started to rework the marine army I had for the last few years into something more idea based. Fast strike and a stealth look. So I have a concept based on Fast Attack and Troop Squads in Drop Pods. The thunder cannon I might scratch build to be more of a man portable multi barrelled mortar. Carried around by the Tech marine and a servitor. For now though, I have my three squad leaders in work. I also have played around with using the Grey Knight Terminators as a basis for my own Terminators. Since I aways wondered were all the ammunition is stored for an assault cannon, I decided to add the ammo drum and feed belt to mine. Also in work are the Commander and Sargent of my Veteran Assault Squad.

I dont know if their all done, but the black looks kinda flat I'd suggest you highlight them more

The only names I have is Niolus Fury (For one of my squad sargents) and Jorn Tagg (Captain or Chapter Master)

 

I am also starting on six Land Speeders. As I said before I have in mind a fast striking army, and Land Speeders fit that concept. The reasoning behind this is that the heavy armour has been lost or destroyed. We'll see.

Wow,how did you make the helmet with the visor!?

The visor and the lenses are also well painted,but i agree with the others,the black looks really flat.

Not sure if you just havnt gotten round to it yet or not,but some highlights on there would really finish the models off.

 

The chapter master conversion is looking pretty sweet,i guess he's gonna have a storm shield on his left arm?

The Sargent helmets were done with a new #11 x-acto knife blade. I will try and put up some pics of how I did it if people want. I cut down and around the eyes and face grill of the standard marine helmet. You have to be careful and make small light cuts as you do it.

 

The shield for the Chapter Master is the end of a IG hunter killer missile box. And the mace is from GW; from a Games Day bits buy a few years ago if I remember right.

 

And I will work on a quick tutorial for the bolter and plasma pistols, Space Marine Stryc.

The Heavy Support Squad is not complete yet, but I will hopefuly get it done this coming weekend. The other Squads have some eyes left to do and the bases, but I have finished all of the armour colours. I am also thinking of rounding out the Fast Attack Squad with two thunderhammer equipped Marines. Any thoughts on that?

 

As for the Chapter symbol, I was thinking of using a skull like that used in the Jolly Rogers flag but I need to finish off everything else first.

I don't mean to be harsh, but which are the finished ones and which need some touch-ups? I can see neither highlights nor much colour apart from black. Why... there seem to be some grey areas, but I'm not sure whether this is due to their being in need of touch-ups...

Your skull captain looks quite nice, though.

nice stuff man...simple yet cool conversions, and the painting is nice, with the blue and coloured stuff which stand out nicely on the black.

I'd highlight the black a bit though, with some shadow grey to brake some lines and have something to look at.

I want to keep all of my work in progress postings here, so I'll start off woth some new pictures.

 

First off I have built up a five man squad of my Power Armour/Terminator armour bash.

I used Scout legs and Marine torsos to build them up. Added rod to the helmets for a different look. Still need to build the guys with the power arms for lifting.

 

Now I came up with a different take on the Thunderfire cannon. Here it is with the start of the Tech-Marine to go with it.

Finally I have taken an older Dread I have and reworked the TL Lascannon and Stormbolter. The Rhino SB looks much better I think. More in scale.

Good day all.

 

Finished the sevo-harness for the Tech-Marine. Used the claw from the IG Engineseer and built up a flamer arm and a plasma cutter. Made the plasma cutter into a hand held weapon, holstered on the back pack. The right side.

The reworked missile launcher becomes the targeting unit for the Thunderfire Mortar(Cannon). The Tech-Marine locks onto the target and then the mortar fires. The heavy power claw allows the Tech-Marine to lift and carry the motar unit. Not easily though.

 

Here is the Thunderfire Motar(Cannon) with support legs. I will have to base it in order to have it stay upright and I may add a targeting sight to it as well.

I am thinking of using the full sevo harness from the Master of the Forge mini, but with a pair of heavy bolters.

You can't have too many guns.

If you're going to add a servo harness to him, I'd recommend putting arms going to the guns. Space marine or not, dual wielding heavy weapons doesn't work without terminator armour.

I've been playing around with an old Landraider; seeing if I could turn it into a Helios pattern. I did not have the whirlwhind launcher so instead built up a heavier launcher with the parts from an Imperial Guard Manticore.

Now I got inspired and built up something different. Think of a salvaged turbo-laser, ingenuity, spare parts and lots of cursing to the machine god. Put them together and you get a Marine Landraider BFG.

Now I need to add detail to the new weapon deck, a targeting unit at the front and a magnet to hold the gun in place. With the Magnet I can build different guns and then swap them out. Maybe we need a battle cannon equiped Landraider.

A good weekend when I was able to sit down and work at the hobby bench for a few hours.

Bought a Command Squad Box to add some characters to my Chapter. So after working with glue and knife I ended up with these guys:

Seriously though, is that going to be a count-as titan weapon or something on that land raider? Maybe a Baneblade cannon? The Thunderfire cannon tech-marine looks nice but it feels like he has one too many servo-arms. Maybe one of them should go towards his poor brother who has to dual wield those heavy weapons ;) All the other conversions are ace and some like the helmets should have an official tutorial, methinks :yes:

I've always look at STCs as more of an overall spec. rather than a detailed design.

I picture the BFG as a Titan class weapon improvised by my marines for the mission.
