Cedric
If it is an epistolary, then yes. Also note that the force weapon counts as a power. Praeger
Actually the answer is no. Force weapon specificly says NO other powers can be used. Dosnt matter how many you can normally use, useing the force weapon means NO other powers. maniclurker
Whoah, where does it say that? Quote it, please. I'm on the ship, and my rulebook is back home. Cedric
This is part of the rule on force weapon power, BRB p. 50: The normal rules for using psychic powers apply (remember that a psyker may normally use only one power per turn) Normally means any standard psyker gets to use one power a turn. An upgraded Epistolary gets 2/turn. Tigurius gets 3/turn. EDIT In older codexes, such as Daemonhuntes (and perhaps chapter specific SM codexes too?), the force weapon power prevents you from using other powers in the same turn. This is not the case with the new 5th ed SM codex, however. Iron_Chaos_Brute
So how does that say that you CAN"T use other powers? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151090-can-librarians-use-two-powers-in-assault/#findComment-1757875 Share on other sites

Brother Nihm
Psykers can use one psychic power per player turn. The normal rules for using psychic powers apply (remember that a psyker may normally use only one power per turn). Could someone please quote the relevant bits (not the entire rules) on Epistolaries and Tigurius from C:SM, as my Codex is at home. Ming
We have discussed this pretty well at our LGS. Because of the way it is written, an Epistolary can use two powers per turn on their turn, with no restriction on powers per phase (assault, movement, shooting). You could for example, use smite twice, or gate twice, or gate then smite, etc, or smite-charge-force weapon. Using a force weapon is the third (spell) a librarian has, and it is the only spell from the SM dex that can be used on the opposing player's turn. Cedric
@ Ming You should read more and discuss less at your store. The following is from BRB p. 50 on psychic shooting attacks: Even if a psyker has a special rule allowing him to use morethan one psychic power per turn, he can use only one psychic shooting attack (as models can fire only one ranged weapon per turn). You can't shoot (smite) twice unless you are a MC or have special rules. bystrom
The C:SM only state that they can use more psychic powers: [...] upgraded to an Epistolary, in which case he can use up to two psychic powers each turn. [...] allows Tigurius to use three psychic power each turn. Also note when it comes to shooting psychic attacks, the last words in parenthesis at the end of that paragraph: [...] (but still cannot use the same power twice in a turn). While you could draw the conclusion that you could only use a specific psychic power once each turn regardless of how many psychic powers the model could use each turn, I'm not too sure, as the whole paragraph is talking about shooting psychic attacks. It seems to be referring to the fact that the same shooting psychic power can't be used twice just as a model can't fire the same weapon twice during the same turn (unless specifically stated). Brother Nihm
So under 5th ed. an Epistolary (or Tigurius) can use Quickening and his Force Weapon in the same turn. Seahawk
Yes, multiple powers per phase is entirely doable, except for shooting psychic powers. There's no room for debate; they explained it very clearly that no matter what, unless you have rules saying you can fire more than one weapon per turn you can only use one psychic shooting attack.
