Captain Pugno
it look great - i'd definately suggest doing an entire army like this! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1767131 Share on other sites
Ompfris
Hahaha! While doing the finishing touches to my model, I dropped him on the tiled floor.... but I think he is ok now (you can check out my finished pics in my gallery if you like) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1767217 Share on other sites
Eight
Consider this stolen for my new Red Templars force. ^_^ Will make a nice unique army down at my local store. :ermm: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1767248 Share on other sites

Newtype
The finished colour scheme is just stunning metcalfedan. I have seen the idea of using clear colours over a chrome base coat done on larger 1/6 and 1/4 scale figures. But on the marine figure, it looks beautiful. Well done. And do not stop posting pictures. Newtype Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1767758 Share on other sites
elijahdprophet
Very cool. Might do my veterans in this style in my chapters standard colors, fancy them up a bit. I wonder if you were doing figures without flesh showing if you could basecoat in a spray on metallic... metcalfedan
I wonder if you were doing figures without flesh showing if you could basecoat in a spray on metallic... I'm thinking of getting the new citadel spray mainly to speed up the painting - 5 coats per model takes a LONG time. I'd say it's completely worth it though. Picking mine up tomorrow. From what I hear it's amazing and the washes are quite impressive. Great looking models there metal, great solid blue. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1770145 Share on other sites
Magos Explorator
Good models--the technique works well for Crimson Fists! This style would look great for Pre-heresy Luna Wolves. A nice metallic light green just like in the HH books. Metcalfedan, I think you have out done yourself once again. I've done this. :P I think it looks pretty good for them. (The green colour was when they were called Sons of Horus.) metcalfedan
I thought I'd put my metallic Ultramarine Captain in here too, since he has metallic armour: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0164.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0167.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0168.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0170.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0172.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1799271 Share on other sites
Mr. Bleak
Wow, those look great! I'm not sure on the mettalic Ultramarines Captaing though.... with Ultramarines I don't think the technique works... Oh, and is that a Fourth Company Captain? It must be Uriel Ventris :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1799291 Share on other sites
Screwhead
I'm actually doing the same thing for my ultramarines also.. Boltgun with blue washes over top, and for the shoulder trim mithril silver with green washes.. Painting the vehicles is gonna be a paaaaaain. I went through about 1/3 of the wash just doing one drop pod.. Wolf89
My buddy wanted to do soul drinkers but was thrown off by the color, I think I could paint them for him now like you've shown and he'd be very pleased, thanks for your help. ^_^ I still like the blue ones better though. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151098-viva-metallica/page/3/#findComment-1812391 Share on other sites
metcalfedan
Update time! First off, I posted a tutorial in the Tutorials section, you might wan to check that out: Viva Metallica I also have some more pics of my first combat squad (note, the plasma gunner has only had 1 coat of blue wash in these pics): http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0425.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0423-1.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0418.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0426.jpg And some more pics of that Soul Drinker/Hawk Lord/Pre-heresy Emperor's Children marine: http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0427.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0428.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f139/metcalfedan/IMG_0429.jpg I'm going to do a full tactical squad of Soul Drinkers alongside my Crimson Fist squad. But I'm also thinking of painting my squad armed with meltas as Salamanders, although i'm not too sure about that yet. Let me know what you guys think. ;) EDIT: Spelling EDIT 2: Can an admin or someone please move this to the WIP threads please, thanks. AngryJohnny
I'd love to see a squad of Salamanders painted up by you! I can't wait to see a group shot of your army. Have you painted up any vehicles with this technique yet?
