Redleg
After reading and rereading tutorials on B&C and GW's site as well as getting advice from all the great members, I finally finished painting my first few figures from the Assault on Black Reach set. My wife and I had fun doing these together and hopefully we'll improve as time goes on. A quick note...somebody recommended I go to a GW store and ask for advice on painting since this was my first time...great advice. The guy at the GW in Libertyville, Illinois spent a few hours with me showing me techniques and walking me through the process on my first Space Marine. There's much to be said for customer service. Anyways...here they are: If you can't read the script on the Dreadnought's chest, it says "Abin." http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01348.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01349.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01350.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01351.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01352.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n179/ARutnarak/DSC01353.jpg Again...thanks for all the help. mr tough guy
Love it, I was thinking of making either a sinistro corps or red lantern space ork myself to include in a unit of freebooters and I've been thinking green lanterns would make a great marine army. Khrangar
I'm glad someone else thought of this too. I did a couple test models a few months back but nothing ever came of it. Here are mine: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/gh1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/gh2.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/sc1.jpg I don't mean to hijack the thread, I just thought I'd share my stuff with you. I can remove them if you'd like. Khrangar
Lantern
I'd always fancied doing an army like this, but with only 1 proper marine in it, ie everything else was simply that marines "constructs", or for the sake of some versatility, making each unit sergeant the GL who created the unit. It would take a skilled painter to do everything 100% green though, without it looking dull and boring. But still, doing an army of each of the corps would be interesting (perhaps with Sisters of Battleas the Zamerron contigent?). Of course, then the Tyranids may evolve to be Yellow ;) (I know, I know, old weakness, yadda yadda, lol)
cervantes3773
I love that you put Abin Sur in the dreadnought. Are you going to have all of Earth's green lanterns represented in your army? That'd be sweet. I can't wait for more.
WSPatterson
Okay, this totally plays to the comic geek in me. Love it! :nuke:
Redleg
Thanks for all the great responses. Khrangar...if I had the skill to paint a white circle then the green symbol inside it (like you do), I would be all over it. I had to cheat with some Powerpoint modified decals...but as you can see...I should have re-read the Bell of Lost Souls tutorials because I used clear decal sheets instead of opaque. Did you carve some green stuff in a circle and paint the emblem? To answer some questions... My concept was the Lantern army was led by Chaplains or Captains with digital weapons. They would be considered the Green Lanterns and all squad members would be aspiring Lanterns. I love the idea of the remaining squad members being constructs. My Scouts will not have full symbols on their shoulder pads, instead having plain "white circles" decals instead of the full green emblem (for the trainees). I'm playing around with ideas for all of Earth's Lanterns.... Captain Jordan is my priority and will be jump infantry with a Power Fist with Aux Grenade Launcher (just have to figure out the conversion). I'm also considering giving him a Storm Shield. I know Captain's with PFs are sort frowned on due to the initiative knock...but it would seem wrong if I didn't give Jordan a gigantic fist. Captain Gardner will probably be clad in Terminator Armour. Librarian Rayner is still a concept... Still no clue on how I want to work Stewart. He'll probably be a Chaplain with Jump Pack and Digital Weapon. My upcoming Dreads will be KE'Haan (Venerable?) and Tomar (Ironclad or Venerable). Cygnwulf
Stewart could be a techmarine.... I remember a bit at one point from Flash on how he built his constructs, from the inside out with all the little technical details along the way, and I thought that was a really cool way to look at it. Kilowog needs to have an appearance somewhere too. Maybe as a devastator sergeant. Maybe for kicks you could do Librarian Rayner in the Ion color scheme? Redleg
Techmarine is a definite posibility for Stewart. The Conversion Beamer could demonstrate the devastating long range attack from Sinestro Corps wars. For Kilowog, I planned on using the Master of Recruits figure. It just seems to be a natural fit. Lantern...funny you mention the Zamarons. My wife picked out a Sister of Battle Seraphim that she will be paint in appropriate colors for the Order of the Sapphire Star (Yes...I know it's Star Sapphire but I like the way it sounds backwards). "Lady Ferris" will be jump pack equipped and probably an ally for Captain Jordan if I ever get around to it. I'm twisting the fluff around...but...my fellow comic book geeks get it. Khrangar
It's actually a pad from the Commander box. My inability to find enough of them is the reason I didn't continue with the army. Khrangar
xXwarsmithXx
Nice! They look pretty good. The only thing is that they kinda remind of Luigi with the white gloves and green suits... :tu:

Khrangar Check out TheWarStore.com... http://www.thewarstore.com/product26968.html 1 dollar each. Not too shabby. Luigi...LOL. Yeah...I guess they do have that color scheme too. Vanilla Marine
This would be the ideal time to implement Digital Weapons. Little green lantern rings.
Lantern
I'm also thinking how cool standard bearers could be, with small lines like "In Brightest Day" etc wrote across scrolls and the like. There is so much of the mythos to be taken from GL, and an embellished captain to look like Parallax (think about the cape and large shoulders) could look cool too. In my younger days, I did think about conversions for "proper" Green Lanterns ie that look like the ones from the comics. My main thought was in using the body of Vindicare assassins , as the original model has little on the figure (just a few straps and gun cases that could be removed), and maybe using the main body of the Callidus assassin for female GL's, or for Jade (perhaps with a sister of battle head...the hair matches). I suppose I'm just hoping somone else will be the guinea pig and try my ideas for me, lol.
