Fabius Bile and Khorne

Most pure khorne armies that are created these days are very berzerker heavy, mainly due to the icon system. A vanilla csm squad with icon of khorne is a great unit for a reasonable price, but it lacks any mechanic to stop it from getting swept in cc. Because of this Icon of Chaos Glory is often seen as the only option on vanilla marines. So, i was thinking if you want to have a khorne army that isn't all berzerkers why not use fabius bile and have enhanced marines with Icon of Khorne. A ten man squad is the same price as berserkers (+ special weapons) has 5 strength and is fearless. Of course a few will die now and then, but that amount is actually fairly low and will rarely be game breaking. Enhanced khorne marines don't have some of the perks of berzerkers, but instead they get things like bolters and special weapons. A rhino squad of enhanced marines with flamers would be superior to berserkers in some instances for example.

 

In this sort of army fabius bile would of course be a counts as chaos lord and the enhancements would be combat drugs or even just pure rage. The enhanced warrior mechanics work perfectly for a bunch of insane Khornates. So, it seems fine to me from a fluff perspective but i want to hear what others think of the idea both from a fluff perspective and a competitiveness one.

You don't even have to do a count as (unless you want to). Remember Mr. Bile will sell his services to anyone as long as they pay, so grab some Khorne leaning Renegade Chapter (the Skulltakers come to mind) and doctor them up.

As far as effectiveness, I think this is one of the most all purpose squads:

10 Marines

Icon of Khorne

2 Meltaguns

Champion + Power Fist (+Combi-Flamer if you have the points).

Tons of basic attacks to kill light infantry

2 Meltaguns for tanks

A Champion with 4 Power Fist swings on the charge plus LD10

 

In your case they'll be even stronger and fearless.

Yeah that works but fluffwise i think Bile is a book doodoo head, so i'd definetly counts-as him.
