ok update time

both of the engines are 95% finished now...

the Reaver is only lacking the windshields for the eyes and the warhound only needs some minor details touched up and the alternative shin armour painted..

i finally decided on the Warp Runners Engine i would like to represent and my choice went to the venerable Machine

INVICTORUS

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Tagsta/Warhammer40k/Unbenannt-1a.jpg

My fellow follower of the Omnissiah Apologist was nice enough to write a small passage of Fluff explaining the yellow shoulderpads and heraldry of Invictorus

Known to be amongst the oldest of the Astorum Engines, Invictorus' records were unfortunately wiped out after an EMP assault by Iron Warriors during the Cursus War on Tallarn. Partial mem-notes were gradually recovered, but the Machine Spirit was sorely wounded, and required many years in support roles before being refitted and deployed in the frontlines of the Defence of Cadia during Abaddon's Thirteenth Black Crusade.

Invictorus' shoulderpads were repainted in an or (yellow) scheme during the Koromac campaign, fighting alongside the Howling Griffons in M38. After the successful completion of the campaign, the army badge was incorporated into Invictorus' overall heraldry, and the or shoulderpads granted as an honorific marking the Engine out as invested with leadership qualities.

The yellow band on the left kneepad represents the Legio's Campaign Badge, and the capital Alpha symbol was a mark of respect drawn from the Drookian Fen Guard, alongside whom Invictorus served – saving their entire 'A' company by obliterating a World Eater ambush in its early stages.

The silver skull device stems from the same campaign, marking the Titan out as a command unit.

I painted up the spare pair of shoulderpads in the yellow color and also touched the other yellow parts up to make it look more "golden"

here is Invictorus Heraldry from the IA 6 book:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/Tagsta/Warhammer40k/IMG_8760.jpg

also airbrushed some Dust effects onto the legs

he still has his blue shoulderpads to represent the engine in earlier times.. which one do you like better?

volcano cannon close up

still not 100% satisfied but i can still add some rivets/details later

Those are insanely cool, great colour schemes!!!!! A really like how the GS detail on the reaver added to the hull, presumably you can take bits off to see the crew?

O as you asked i prefer the yellow shoulder pads to the blue ones, it adds a bit of contrast which is needed on such large models

AWSOME work here man, loving it

Glad to hear that you were able to fix the legs up so quick. Omnissiah speed to fixing those chips.

As for the shoulders, i think you should go for the yellow, but add some nice free hand stuff.....as its looks a little bare.

Maybe some free hand cogs around the edges (a couple edges?)

Just something to make them pop and bring the eye towards the top of the model some more.

just my 2 pence

Cheers

awwww man this is sooo good

im sure you said a bit more than "noooooo" when you dropped those bad boys :P

anyway the shoulderpads....

before you posted the yellow i thought the blue look absolutely great fitted in with the model beautifully

but now i see the yellow ones the blue ones just look out of place, and yet the yellow ones dont look perfect either :s

they dont look bad, they do look great especially on such an ausome model, but i dunno... just look a little odd...

Beautiful Titans, beautiful story. Its a story like that, that makes you want to read more..when there isn't any. =-(

You said that the Beaut is 95% done, with windshields and details. But in one of your pictures, the first thing I noticed were a few black marks on the carapace.

I don't know if you wanted that, but it just looked like it wasn't supposed to be like so.

oh btw the detail on the reaver is not GS! it comes like that from FW.

man if i had the money for one of those puppies! That thing looks great!

I struggled a lot about the money also but they are so worth it!

Dread Drop pod? Or is it a foot?
That appears to be what looks like a foot constructed from a SM drop pod...

Interesting....

wisely observed

your verging on the crazieness of BulldogUK :P

ahem...

in all seriousness, nice titans mate ;) realy nice painting going on, and i love the extra little details, such as the writing on the reaver's carapace. always nice to see proper forgeworld titans, though i have no problem at all with ones made out of cardboard :P

lets hope you stick with the warlord project until its finished, always wanted to see a warlord :D

Wait... a WARLORD? Holy....

I've been watching this thread and I do like your Titans mate, they're awesome. A Warlord on such epic scale would be freaking awesome beyond belief :D (not beating Bulldog's of course ;) )

hello guys

i repainted the little round armour plates for the shoulders and decided i didnt like the heraldry on the crotch armour anymore

i also permanently attached the banner that i airbrushed with graveyard earth before to give it a weathered appearence

unfortunately the stupid cables that connect the head and the carapace fell off... i didnt quite manage to bend them well enough but i will glue them back in place soon.

Avernus Maxima is hereby officially finished
