Iron-Daemon Forge
Hi everone Been a while since I posted photo of my Iron Warriors on here... well apart from the Call of Chaos MkII topic in the WIP area ;) Just though I show you lot my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company force though out the years. Since I get ask a bit on the fourms & just it been 2006 was last time I posted a topic on my IW model wise & painting. So those who know me, know I am a big fan of Iron Warriors, though that don't look on :) Basicly the story of my Iron Warriors start: My best friend had made me promise to attend my first ever tournament back in 2002 (well the pomise was made in 2001) when I was a mere boy (well 16) where I would be entering the Scottish Conflict in 2002. Orignaly I was going to go with Black Legion, but soon the Index Astarties article came out about Iron Warriors, my friend who made me promise to attend Scottish Conflict has made some really really ace converted Oblits for his Thasound Sons that I took his idea & try to futher the models, so only made sence to go IW, also I like seige & trench warfare. Anyway many year on I went from army to army & was about to attend my second Grand Tournament in 2005 & though it be cool to bring my Iron Warriors back out. The Iron Warriors are my favrout force & I am a big fan of all that is chaos. Ever year I attended a tournament I try improve & replacing some my models in hope to be among the x-amount best armies just in show of my hard work & skills. Though out there time they have made a name for them self & gain many honours. So here photos of my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company through out the years Some parts of my Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company from the 2002 days My warsmith Abhorred Riddick (now a might Daemon Prince) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/New%20IW/DSC03838.jpg My Sorcerer & two of my warsmith might champion. The one with power fist is Narach, soon to be my (background wise) warsmith Protege in the 2006-2007 era when Daemon Prince die to easy to Tau Rail guns http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/New%20IW/DSC03840.jpg My old Obliterators when they where first brough into the 40k world, was not a fan of the old metal models (I class them along with the metal Possessed that where release on the horrible models) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/New%20IW/DSC03844.jpg Grand Tournament 2005 Heat 1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/6.jpg Grand Tournament 2006 Heat 1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/Grand%20Tournament%20heat%201/DSC01020.jpg Stirling wargaming tournament http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/Stirling%20tournament/DSC01023.jpg Grand Tournament 2007 Heat 1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/Grand%20tournament%202007/DSC02204.jpg As my army is now 40k Radio World Wide war http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/40k%20Radio%20WWW/DSC03225.jpg UK Grand Tournament 2008 Heat 1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/GT%202008/Games/DSC03443-1.jpg Stirling wargaming club Rapid Fire 2008 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/ironwarriors/insane%20psycopath/Stirling%20tournament/Rapid%20Fire%2008/DSC03733.jpg I've really enjoy each new version of my IW, learning & improve along the way. Also happy with all the stuff they gain being - Won best army in my old local GW 2005 - Top 5 (3rd) for armies in Conflict Scotland 2005, Graham McNeill favrout conversion is the Crusifed Space Marine - 12th place in Conflict Scotland 2005 - Fought GT 2005/06/07/08 - Fought Christain Bryne Black Legion in GT 2006 - Came 2nd game wise that Stirling wargaming club 2006 - Came 4th game wise that Stirling wargaming club 2008 - Was a mere one vote from the best army award from Stirling Rapid Fire 2008, was beat by my local GW manger & his really nice Daemon Force (inspired me to start Daemons) - Fought over 500 battle now :) Inspired idea for my force came from: Chronophague & his IW, Teethgrinder & his World Eaters, Ebolahond & his IW, John Thompson & his Emperor Children, migsula & his IW, Christain Bryne & his Black Legion, a lot work that George Dellapina done, Graham McNeill Storm of Iron & Dead Sky Black Sun & also a lot memeber on the fourms for there cool chaos models, etc.... Also thing from: Bloodquest comic (about a Exile Blood Angles, I high recommend people get the comic & read it/look that), John Blanch old art work from 2nd Ed codex Chaos where it was about converting Chaos Marines (see UK WD 202 or 2nd Ed Codex Chaos), Star War close trooper more the specil unit like the ARC Troopers, shadow trooper & commandos. With my Iron Warriors I have one more tournament this year in Edinbrugh & I have a unit of Khorne Bezerker to make up :D Anyway I thouhg get this topic up, let people see how my Iron Warriors have progress since they started in Nov the 17th 2001 (found my mail order for the Warsmith, my first model to start this when looking for bit for my Bezerker unit). How they went through a lot over these 7 years now. You can see more WIP of my Mk5 2008 Iron Warriors force by here along with a lot my mad ranting. http://z4.invisionfree.com/ironwarriors/in...?showtopic=3608 Also another note is, it thanks to my Iron Warriors I went to a NQ to HND model making course in Glasgow with the high suggestion by my friend Graham McNeill, you can see my finial year project base on his Book Storm of Iron the finial part. Stuff other people have done. One of the things that’s really rewarding about this job is seeing how people who read my books have gone on to take my characters onwards and do their own things with them. After Storm of Iron came out, I remember loads of GW store managers telling me – with varying degrees of frustration and/or glee – that the number of Iron Warriors armies in their stores had shot up. That’s just one example, but in recent times I’ve had contact with a couple of guys who’ve done some really amazing things that I’d like to share with you. Many moons ago I was at Conflict: Scotland, where I met a guy called Jamie Farquhar, who was thinking about going to the Glasgow College of Building and Printing to do a model-making course. We chatted at the event and he showed me his Iron Warriors army, which was very nicely made and had lots of very cool conversions. Anyway, many years later I got an e-mail from Jamie through the website where he told me that he was indeed on his model-making course and that he was going to build part of the fortress from Storm of Iron for his end of year show and could I help him out with the background (where I got my ideas and inspiration from etc). We chatted many times over e-mail and, long story short, Jamie had his end of year show and if you’d like to see some exceptionally cool models of the fortress then follow the links below and you’ll see what I mean: The first link is to a forum topic on the Iron Warriors 4th Grand Company website: http://z4.invisionfree.com:80/ironwarriors...view=getnewpost http://www.graham-mcneill.com/gmblog/defau...2008-09-12.aspx Just my goal to use the skill I learnt on the model side of GW or get somthing to do with model making, also been making great use of all the plasticcard (Styrene) I got for "free" with the extra armour & now Icon's on the hatch of my Iron Warriors Rhinos. When I work in Games Workshop we had a saying that it is never ending with collecting armies & this is case with me & my Iron Warriors :) IP
