Heya all,

Just turning my BL in IW and they need some leaders. Just finished converting my warsmith.

Most likley I will be using the rules of Huron for him because we can't use the servo arms.

Here are some pictures before I slap some paint on him.

What do you folks think of him?

Cheers

I like the idea behind the chainfist servo arm but do agree it is too chunky to use as is, maybe mounting it on a normal servo arm would help.

My main gripe though, is that the model is too tall. The waist doesn't seem right, almost looks as if he is wearing two belts aswell. Not sure if its just the angle of the shot but it does look to me like you need to lose a bit off of the bottom half of the model so as the marine torsos belt is where the chaos warriors belt i at the moment.

I love the weapons though, if i wasn't such a loyalist i might think about copying that.

keep up the ood work, and soz if i sounded really critical.

Heya folks,

Thanks for the c&c it has been very usefull.

The weapons so far:

The deamonmaw is originally from the last metal termylord.

The spear are various components.

Arm: CSM banner arm

Front: old deamonhead weapon assasoiry & chaos warrior sword

Back: CSM termy sorcerer forceweapon with an bezerker weapon ponytale.

On the account of the skirt, I know less is more! I couldn't stop adding more and more (spikey)bits. In the end I think it will work fine. ATM it looks like it's flapping in the wind wich suggest movement. Something that I found quit difficult to create with my other Doghouse gothic pattern CSM.

ATM I'm throwing paint on the old lad & I will keep this post updated. I'll reconsider the arm yet when he's finished.

Cheers

Update:

Back again with news.

I've done a basepaint on my Warsmith & have taken a thought on the chainfist and.......

I'm working on a DIY servo to replace it.

The servo arm is BIGGER than the chainfist but has a more deamontech (and servo) feel over it.

Psychoservo

I've used a deamonmaw heavyweaponhead & attached 3 chainswords on it for the claw. For the servoarm I'm using a city of death lamppost with guitarwire & bits attached to it.

What do you guys think?

Laterssss.

Here's a pic with the new psycho-deamonicservo attached to it.

I'm quite happy with the result. The chainfist did looked bulky but didn't have the right feel about it.

Creating the claw took me almost as much time as I spent on the entire model.

The claw is about three times bigger but I think it seems to work much better.

The new Servo Arm works, although it does look a bit on the large side, given that it's an IW Warsmith whose probably been around for several thousand years, i can imagine he's been progressively upgrading his gear. Nonetheless, the arm looks great ;)

Heya folks,

Thanks for the c&c, and of course any (and all) ideas are there for the taking. Glad to see I inspire fellow chaos generals.

When the model is further in development I'll post another pic. ATM the photo is a bit grainy so a better pic when painted will give an better insight in wich parts are used.

Cheers!

Hello again,

Just been caught up in a lot of real life stuff so I hadn't had the chance to really, really put my back in to it.

But here is an update of my converted warsmith with the claw painted.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Vandael/WSwithClaw5.jpg

ATM I've done some work to his body as well, but paining those hazardstripes is tedious as poo.

I'm considering to give him a more senic base to make him stand out. But first I'll concetrate in finishing the work at hand.

The warsmith is not alone, oh no. His warband is expanding as well & I'll be posting some WIP of my Iron Warrior army soon.

So much work, so little time. OMG I love this hobby.

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

Heya all,

It has been a while since the last update but i didn't had anything to show for yet...

As this is going to be an ongoing project I've decided to make this my Iron Warrior Blog.

Currenty no name, or fluff just models. Converting my army isn't as easy as I thought it would be and a lot more time-consuming.

Here is my warsmith at 95% finished. I still have to do some fine highlighting & adding blood 'n gore but don't dare to touch that with a 10 ft pole untill my skills are better. I suck at eyes and I really want to do this bloke well. Picture is better quality as promised.

Here is my 1st squad at tabletop quality.

In order to build my army faster I'm doing basic colours first. After that my intention is to inkt & highlight each squad step by step. Rather have a complete finished army in basic than one or two squads painted & the rest in primer.

Hope you enjoy C&C welcome as ever.

Cheers!
