Black Wolf Posted November 8, 2008 Share Posted November 8, 2008 hey there. so i have thought alot abaut making a 1500 point army of adeptus mechanicus using the codex space marines, i want as many tech marines and servitors as possible in the list, while the 2 troops choices of space marines will be the adepts who are send in training as techmarines, the list off my head is something like this master of the forge power weapon master of the forge power weapon 10 space marines plasma gun plasma cannon power fist 10 space marines plasma gun plasma cannon power fist ironclad dreadnought (various upgrades i cant recall off my head) drop pod techmarine power weapon servo harness techmarine power weapon servo harness 5 servitors servo arms 5 servitors servo arms thunderfire cannon thunderfire cannon thunderfire cannon so i want this to be as fluffy as possible and still perform somehow on the battlefield i reccon there should be plasma weapons in the tactical squads rather than meltas as plasma guns should be alot more rare and harder to craft should the space marines be painted the collours how their own chapters or the adeptus mechanicus? if the latter then what are the scheme? i suppose red as main ofcourse and then details like backpack shoulder pads and knee pads picket out with black and white? i hear GW is gona publish alot of the metal stuff in plastic - servitors, master of the forge, techmarines in servo harness, thunderfire cannon, ironclad dreadnought, would it be worth waiting for these? and anyone know what year? think thats all ^^ thanks alot all help apriciated. Full-choke Posted November 8, 2008 Share Posted November 8, 2008 It sounds fairly solid from staying with what you have to work with from the SM book. The only thing is that your standard Spae Marine is almost too beefed up to be a regular little Adept. The other thing (and this is strictly fluff wise) is that the adepts would not actually see any combat like that. If it were me, and I was to go down the route you were headed I would probably use scouts for Adepts, just for the fact that they wouldn't be the 'Warrior Elite'. If you don't necessarily want it tournament legal you could use combat and gun servitors for your troops choices. Still very functional under their stat lines, so you could very well use them that way. Other then that it sounded pretty good really. It is just my opinion that a Space Marine would be too strong to be an Adept in battle. (And if it helps I have a SM Chapter and I am building a Ad Mech army off of Huckleberry's Codex.) As far as paint goes, if they are Adepts in training to go back and work for the Adeptes Astartes they should probably be in their own colors. So, what you could do here to make it look really cool is to paint almost every marine or scout in a completely different paint scheme. Give it the feel that it is just a bunch of them all grouped up for battlefield training or something like that. Things like the Dreadnought and Masters of the Forge I would do up in Ad Mech. If you look at my thread: Warhound Build, there are some painted models at the end that would give you an idea. I use: Gore Red, Boltgun Metal, Brazen Brass, Codex Grey, Chaos Black and then usually cover the entire model in the Badab Black wash. Gives them that dirty industrial feel and turns out rather nice I think. Hope this helps, don't be afraid to ask more questions! Black Wolf Posted November 8, 2008 Author Share Posted November 8, 2008 alright. thanks alot for that!! <_< i tought that the ones who where send to train as techmarines where send there after they passed from scouts to space marines. also yeah it could be realy cool to paint them alot of difrent collours! i dont suppose one chapter send 20 space marines to train ^^ they should keep their own armor, as when they get send back its in this artificeir (spelled?) techmarine armor and that isnt the same. is Mars a totaly factory world where there are buildings everywhere? or is there still deserts on part of it so i could base them on red sand? would there in any way be possible that mars whas under attack so thats why the space marines had weaponry or is it just too secure? think thats all for now ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151601-need-some-information-on-the-adeptus-mechanicus/#findComment-1764676 Share on other sites More sharing options...
