chillin
I have always thought the IoTz was over priced, 40 pts for a 33% chance at an invul save. But now in 5th ed., with 5+ and even 4+ invul saves seemingly all over the battle field. Does that make IoTz an even worse buy ?? ChaosInCommorragh
well i think the only answer to this is yes. i cant see why it would make it more worthwhile to buy unless there is absolutely no cover on the field.. Khestra the Unbeheld
It makes sense for some things (Bikes, DPs) but certainly not everything. I'm about to run an all IoTz 1750-point list in a tournament next weekend. I'll let you know how well it does. minigun762
I think it also depends on the intent of your Units. If they're riding around in Rhinos and meant to get into HtH combat soon, then its still a valuable asset, especially against Rending/Power Weapon units because a cover save means nothing while you're in close combat. If you're plopping a unit down in cover to shoot at something or hold an objective, then I'd agree that its lost its value. The best thing about it is that it allows some units not to hug cover, as they can bring their 5+ save with them. Brother Nihm
I find the MoT/IoTz to work well on Characters and Terminators, on anything else it's too pricey for what it does. Depending on your local game boards and whether or not the BBB guidelines are followed, it's not that hard to benefit from a cover save in most situations. Cale
It's still good for Sorcerers and DPs, and the Deathscreamer isn't terrible, but, by and large, yes: it's a waste of points. Honestly, it always has been. It's overpriced on the things on which it's even moderately good, and it's always been terrible on things like chosen or regular old Chaos Marines. It's a shame, but whatever. Not everything in a codex can be a good buy. Ace of Gods
You have got to be kidding me. Paying 15-30 pts for a unit (like lord/DP) or an entire squad (up to 20) models getting a better chance on surviving any shot, ignoring the AP of Plasma Cannons, or the instant kill from high powered guns is an insane bargain. for the price of 1 or 2 models, you have an entire squad with a chance to surbive multiple incomming shots at your squad as it advances upon the table. Well worth the points. And to block the cover regarding units blocked by other squads, your enemy can easily outmaneuver around them and make their being blocked LOS for cover Nul land Void. But carrying an Icon of Tzeentch, well, theres no getting aroudn that !! And on DP/Lords, it is well worth it, since you know good and well that they will end up fighting other champions or being s with Powerswords/Power fists and beign shot at with High powered guns to attempt to remove him from the field of contention. the jeske
) models getting a better chance on surviving any shot, ignoring the AP of Plasma Cannons, or the instant kill from high powered guns is an insane bargain. well first of all one doesnt see many units bigger then 10 man [if one sees them ever]. second while it could have been true for the 4th ed [cover was +5] in the 5th most cover saves are higher then a +5 inv [+ if one really wants to have good cover its possible to hit the ground ] . as hth goes as chill said +5 inv aint that great , the chance for passing it too small [now having +4 inv on a DP is something different , if there only was a way to re-roll it] to be a good option for units. it's a waste of points. Honestly, it always has been. QFT . if we could get something like storm shields or the old power generators , but its wish thinking . northoceanbeach
I think it really is too expensive. I suppose any of the marks are a good deal if you take your squads in 15+ men, but I don't really ever see that done. It's a shame, I always want thousand sons/tzeentch to be really good, as I really like their fluff. The only use for it is on characters, especially DP's giving them a 4+, warptime and whatever or on a close combat unit, at which point it's still marginal. Sons of Horus
if you are not going to field rubrics then it is too pricey indeed. i suggest giving MoT only to DPs, termies, and lords/sorcerers. oh and maybe bikers as well ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151761-iotz/#findComment-1767970 Share on other sites
Brother Nihm
oh and maybe bikers as well :tu:If the intent is to combine the bonus of the icon with the turbo boost save, that is no longer possible under 5th. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151761-iotz/#findComment-1767981 Share on other sites
Tamagoyaki
I agree with Brother Nihm - only your HQ choices and termies are worth of giving then IoTz. And maybe pack of 5 chosen with five flamers and champ w/ PW... But it may be overpriced.
