Great battle reports. Your opponent in game 5 was Marcus Gill who came up with me and the rest of the Exeter Inquisition. (Only two of us that qualified.) His army's a lot of fun even if the mortars can take a little while to resolve. So very many blasts. He even started using it back in 4th edition when we still had partial hits.

 

It's a shame to hear he had to drop some models from the army just because they broke away from their bases. I'd brought some metal glue with me so I wish he'd come round to ask for it.

 

In his last game he faced Nidzilla with 2 psychic screams. Kept him pinned most of the game. Ironic but not much fun.

 

Mate, his army was ace. Against any footsloggers, he just kicked ass - even though they took a little while to resolve, all those mortars at one squad was just ridiculous. I imagine that even termies begin to feel the sting with partials gone forever! I can see, though, how it would struggle against Nidzilla - not so many high strength/low AP weapons, and enemies that are immune to pinning. Joy. Well, I shall be looking for the Exeter Inquisition in the finals! Regardin his models, marcus told me that the judge had told him to just remove them - sad but true, and I think he just shrugged and got on with it! Be sure to tell him, I shall have my revenge! :P

I'll let him know you'll be aiming for a rematch. I'm sure he'll have the mortars ready.

 

I agree all those templates do add up. Amusingly though I played an early incarnation of his army (still that many mortars but fewer lascannons) with nids. You had to see it to believe it but he killed only 3 gaunts in one shooting phase despite all those blasts. :woot: It was his one and only chance to slow the tide before it all started to get very messy.

 

I'm not sure if the last chancers will be any better as they do cost a lot. On the other hand it will give him a load more mortars which is all he's after. Could give him some sneaky tricks with kill points. He was not impressed by the decision to play another kill point mission because it'd be more 'fun'. Minor gripes over that but he really didn't care that much. He'd qualified with guard and funny guard at that. ;)
