megamat008
These objective grabing T5 2W models are tough and very dynamic in the role they play in the battlefield. I agree that attack bikes are very useful in SW lists, but unfortunately they are not a Troops choice so therefore can't capture objectives. Guest WG Vrox
yeah I know, :P meant in a contesting way. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768321 Share on other sites
Nightrunner
I just wanted to say, an IC with a Chainfist (until it IS FAQ'd) strikes last. This is because the rules simply call it a Chainfist; the main rulebook (I think) doesn't say anything about striking at Initiative UNLESS it is a DCCW. The Chainfist is just called "a Chainfist". Just so you know! My two cents on the Iron-clad; yeah, it is very hard. However, I had one in my GT list and eventually dropped it (and its pod) for two preds instead. You have to consider that, whilst armour 13 does make it good in combat, it still often-than not dies to lascannons and anything entitled 'Melta' (unless you are called Vrox! Sorry matey! :D ) :) NR  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768555 Share on other sites

B) ) ;) NR ;) This is what I was contemplating as well, but looking at page 73 in the BBB under DCCW it says "hammers, wreaking balls, claws, etc." so one could take etc as an excuse to put in the chainfist... at least the way I see it... Otherwise as per the same page under walkers and assaults "walkers assault like infantry models" so whatever. -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768601 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
But then you get no +2d6 to armor penetration. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768821 Share on other sites
Redbaron997
Wow they sound brutal, i had my doubts about losing the ranged weapon, but for the extra armor and since we can just run its not that bad. We better get them in our codex haha. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768850 Share on other sites
OnlyInDeath
Well, since it states that SW use the SM codex for "dreadnaughts" and also all "vehicle variants" except for venerable dreadnaughts. Guess what, SW's can use ironclads. As can we use LRC's and redeemers (not that I'd want to). Wolf89
But then you get no +2d6 to armor penetration. Yea I was thinking about it on the car-ride home, and it specifically states DCCW, in the codex under chainfist it's not called that, so treating it as a chainfist in all respects (2D6, strike last, the whole bit) is the way it aught to be and I think it is. Projects are all getting me flustered, programing, networking, all that good stuff I jump from one reality to the next, virtual, real, so confused atm. -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1768874 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Its alright... Im keeping my eyes open for an old metal furioso dreadnaught.... take one of the hands and replace it with bjeorn style claws.... call that the "seismic hammer" and put it on my old dreadmodel. Then convert up the old BA one into a regular dread. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1769821 Share on other sites
Guest WG Vrox
I was trying to figure out why I was having such a hard time with the AC 13 on the dred and after a second game, it accured to me with the new -2 to a glance hit is huge. pretty big difference now between 12 and 13, though weapon strength has not changed, not being able to get a lucky kill on a glance is huge. Now I see why they bumped the cost of EA. This of course makes 14 a beast, however you pay for it. Grey Mage
And thats why meltaguns and railguns are more powerful than ever.... Guest WG Vrox
Don't tell me he's not WYSIWYG. As for the Battle Field Elastic Bindings, well thats what you get when GW overlooks are IronPriests Servo Arms. http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq71/WG_Vrox/IronClad-1.jpg WG Vrox Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/151792-ironclad/page/2/#findComment-1772370 Share on other sites
Wolf89
He's not bad, but I imagined the melta in an "underslung" position on the hammer instead of above the hammer... at least that's how I would have done mine. Guest WG Vrox
He is just a proxy at this point, A kind of WYSIWYG joke if you will. :D. I want to playtest the Ironclad in my list a few times before I am sold on its place in my list. If I end up liking him in his role, I will wait till the real ironclad model comes out before I commit to the model coversion/purchase. oh and thats the flamer, not melta , the melta looks kinda like a TLAutoC on the right arm.
