sallies!

well, iv been butchering together a 1500 point sally list so i can hopefully get back in to the swing of gaming. but i thought id share my slow and painful progress of desecrating these once great models. i don t get on the net often, so it may take a while between updates.

my sternguard searg, hes pretty much finished, he just needs the banner on his backpack but on again. and the backback to be painted. ( i hate sallies having black packpacks, imo, it looks out of place. mine are green with black mantle and exhausts. dont whinge to me saying its wrong, i know it is. i just prefer it that way.)

iv decided to take the second picture off... its too face meltingly ugly. but it will go back on after more work.

The gold, dark green and purple eyes work together very nively!

I agree and am thinking about doing the same for my sallies, it just looks beutiful.

The only thing that's bothering me (I could care less about the backpacks :ermm: ) is the exposure of metal on the right foot... ugh paint it now!

haha, yeah, the right foot is really pissing me off, i live in a flat with a communial outdoors are and <DELETED BY THE INQUISITION> ventilation, so i cant spray my models to undercoat em, its all done ith brush, which tends to chip at the drop of a hat

Starting with a foundation paint will help this problem greatly, I've used it on certain areas where I GS after painting and it works just fine, granted I have yet to try painting a whole metal model with foundation, but I've done bits and pieces just fine. ;)

Also remember to seal it after it's done painting to further protect it. ^_^

iv not bothered with the foundation paints. i always mean too, but when i pick up the box of them, i always think "paints... or more marines" thus why i have a abundance of marines lying around. im going to get a sealant tomorrow. until then, il be guarding over all metal models with my life. i dont want any more chips on em!

  • 2 weeks later...

its true! a watched photobucket account never uploads! its been achieving the speed of a striking sloth.

anyway. heres some more sallie fun.

a pic of sergs banner, its not lookin too great, but whatcha gonna do eh?

yeah, i try and reserve using gold paint for elite units, so the eagles on the chests of my marines is painted grey. yet again, i know its supposed to be gold, but... i dont care.

this model is not finished, theres still alot of touch up needin done (the white arrows, painting around the transfers to hide the "transparent" bit. alot of work is still needed on the backpack

i know this is a awful pic, i was in a major rush to take it before i left my flat. anyway, there will be more soon. maybe within the nexgt hour! who knows?

ayee, well... i spend alot of time doing nothing, and it often leads to me doing weird and interesting things. like this attempt at putting reasonable blood onto a knife, without actualy using my own blood. here. enjoy.

heres a better pic of the serg i posted earlier. my tactical sqauds have silver under armour (the bits between plates, lback of knees, elbows, you know what i mean), while the stern have grey, im gonn change this so the tec have grey asell, it was a experiment gone wrong i havnt rectified yet.

You need to bend that tip back straight, it's annoying the hell out of me. :P

As for the rest of the guys, they're coming along nicely, that blood thing looks fun. :P

Whats your green/flame recipe I myself are also putting together a sally army and and using this for some inspiration, as for the foundation paints its a hit or miss the orkhide doesn't really like to be thinned down with water it tends to pool at the top making it a pain every time you reload your brush. But it does blend quite well with some Snot green making base coating somewhat easier

the green is just many, many layers of snot green over a black undercoat, highlight the raised armour bits with scorpion green, attack it with 2 healthy coats of green wash, then black wash in the recesses. thats about it... its not difficult at all, but it looks purty.

the flames are... err... basecoated with bleached bone, then blood red, then blend the blood red to blazing orange, then blend the orange it to golden yellow, and leave a teeny bit of bleached bone showing at the bottom of the yellow.

@wolf 89, i know, i only realised how bad it was after i posted the picture!

soon, hopefully, there will be a shot of all the models i have so far, which aint alot! 2 tac squads, dreadnought, 5 sternguard, captain, command squad... thats it i think! but in the nearish fiture, il be getting myself a redeemer, and a vindicator. yay.
