SDarmy
Before i run out and buy an outdate codex can a GreyKnight Squad be attached to an SM army? seems my buddy playing CSM has bought a crap load of daemon spawn and plans on feilding quite a few. Can I attach a Squad of GKs or even possibly a Squad of Sisters to counter them? Captain Kael
I am pretty sure you can. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1770377 Share on other sites
Ferrata
If this is a Rules question, then yes (and this thread flies across to the Official Rules forum ;) ) If this is a Fluff question, then for a short period of time (a campaign/battle) a unit of Grey Knights might be attached to a company of a chapter but it would never be a long term thing. WizePapaSmurf
A SM Army may take GK allies  A GK Army may not take SM allies  Weird, ain't it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1771276 Share on other sites
Grand Master Tyrak
WizePapaSmurf Posted Today, 09:05 PM A SM Army may take GK allies  A GK Army may not take SM allies  Weird, ain't it?  I think its to make sure that under no circumstances can you combine SM Heavy support and GK Heavy Support. WizePapaSmurf
Indeed, Allies rules are - Â 0-1 HQ (not minimum requirement) Â 0-1 EL Â 0-2 TR (not minimum requirement) Â 0-1 FST Â IIRC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1771325 Share on other sites
silencer
Where does this 0-1/0-2 rule stand? I have never read something about that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1771381 Share on other sites
WizePapaSmurf
It's in the Daemonhunters/ Witch Hunters books, as well as a few others. GW is making it a habit to kill it off so not likely to see it in any of the recent books. Â It means you may take Up to 2 choices of that selection, but do not have to. Much like Tau Fire Warriors are a 1 choice so you MUST have a selection of them in the force. silencer
Hey, thanks... It means you may take Up to 2 choices of that selection, but do not have to. Much like Tau Fire Warriors are a 1 choice so you MUST have a selection of them in the force. ...but that wasn't my point, sorry. I meant where can I find the rules for allies...where does stand how much units from allies I am allowed to take? Blood Scorpion
There is a section detailing what allies can be taken and how many Inquisition units can be allied to a Space Marine force in the Witch Hunters Codex (p.25) and the Deamonhunters Codex (p.21). The rules for allies for each Ordos of the Inquisition force are almost identical as the two books were produced as part of the same GW project a few years ago. Â The compulsory choices of 1 HQ and 2 Troops must come from the parent (Space Marine) list, and then the following restrictions are placed on the number of allied Witch Hunter units you can take - 0-1 HQ, 0-1 Elites, 0-2 Troops, 0-1 Fast Attack. The same restrictions are also placed on the number of allied Deamonhunter units. Â So overall, allied from the two Ordos of the Inquisition forces you could have up to.... - 1 HQ (1 x WH or 1 x DH - as the other must come from C:SM and you only get two) - 2 Elites (1 x WH and 1 x DH) - 4 Troops (2 x WH and 2 x DH) - 2 Fast Attack (1 x WH and 1 x DH) Â Your whole army must of course abide by the Force Organisation Chart, and so couldn't take any allied Elites units if you already had 3 Elites units from C:SM for example. Â Also, you cannot take any Witch Hunter or Deamonhunters Heavy Support, so no Sisters of Battle Exorcists or Penitant Engines or Grey Knight's Dreadnoughts I'm affraid! Â Hope this clears it up for you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1774571 Share on other sites
Mal
IIRC didn't the newest FAQ's say that you cannot combine WH/DH and marines in a single force? you can have WH/DH army, or WH/marine or DH/marine but not all together at the same time. Trekari
Q. Can Daemonhunters be taken as allies in anarmy that also has Witch Hunter allies? A. Yes, Daemonhunter and Witch Hunter units may both be taken as allies in the same army. silencer
Thanks, Scorpion for the detailed answer...that is really helpful! Is there any possibility namely official rule that allows to take IG as ally? I can't imagine, because if any SM would be allowed to take Leman Russ, the Space Wolves would loose one of their advantages...but in 40k a lot of things seem to be possible :nuke: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1775070 Share on other sites
Blood Scorpion
You are welcome. There are no ways to legally include Marines and Guard together in the same force. You'll have to make do with our Vindicators! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152066-gks-in-an-sm-army/#findComment-1775558 Share on other sites
