Hey everybody,

I was 'browsing' on e-bay when something caught my eye and I brought it cost me £28 including P&P and I thought that was a good price for what I brought.

The Skulz promotion Iwo Jima Space Marine Diorama

Fingers Crossed it arrives by Saturday and when It does get here I will post some pics up of my progress using Metcalfedan's painting style colour washes over silver! (I will have to perfect the red and gren for the DA and BA to make sure its dark enough so they dont end up lime green and pink!)

Ridiculous patriotic garbage.

Nice find though :P

Patriotic?! er...they're space marines. If you're referring to the Iwo Jima reference then my suggestion is to unclench the asscheeks, you'll live longer. It's a cool space marine diorama that looks really great painted why does it have to get political?!

Ridiculous patriotic garbage.

Nice find though ;)

Rather a silly thing to say, considering GW is a UK company, space marines are fiction and have no real race/creed, and it was taken purely for the pose.

Anyway> I WANT ONE!! how much they going for ebaytown?

The real Iwo Jima was the Imperial Guard anyway, thats why it took like 9 of them to hold it up. It only takes two space marines to do the same (plus one to helpfully lie around bleeding).

Just for that Iwo Jima reference I think this thread should be closed for being non-power armour. :D ;)

I'm just stirring btw, I personally live within relatively easy driving distance of some of the most obvious evidence of WWII here in Australia, no-one was left untouched and... Are you gonna finnish that thing already or do I need to keep up this history lesson? :P

Gud luck finding a good transitory colour for banner and earth, considering the bright heraldry of the three Astarte's standing on the base...

Maybe a darkened military green with golden letters fer the flag (or a rich toned beige)... Hmmm brown charred earth ? (a snowed base could be so cool).

Hope we'll see it soon.

I have two them back in the skull days. All I will say is... be ready as it going to be one tough model to but together. I found that hte Blood Angle dose not stand right/there a gap, while the Dark Angle I had problem trying to get his hands on the banner. Great model, nightmare to put together.

ITS HERE!!!!

lol I'm gonna give it a quick half hours painting and stick some quick pic's up for you guys! (I think I will worry about sticking it together after its painted.... usually I glue all my stuff first!)

best put the heating on so I can do this super fast!

Ok after some fast lagging all the bits with paint..... I was so excited I didnt use any undercoat :D and I really hope that dosent affect the end product

What I have done:-

Silver on all the Marine parts (excluding the DA robe) - I used the Large flat drybrush to do most of this.

Foundation paints brown for the base, again with the large brush

Foundation paints Stone for the Flag and robe

by the time I had finished that and shoved them on the radiator, got a coffee made and on to the washes

Black wash on the marines silver

Devlan mud for the base

Sepia for the robe and flag

Gotta wait for all that to dry now!
