are you going to make the colours flatter rather than metalic in the end?

Heh heh, apparently you offended a bunch of people =-D

yeah, as we all know, 3 people being offended means 3 MILLION people are offended.

but in all seriousness, thats a wicked find, will keep up

 oh family guy is brilliant

They are gonna stay metalic, and almost all the metal that isnt armour will be gold! I figure its just a display peice, I cant use it in a game or anything (my new paper weight)

Little painting update

Extra washes on the flag - I thought its a battle and the flag has been on the floor it would be dirty so a massive splash of black ink

Highlights on the Dark Angel's robe

Pouches and Grenades are started

I found this online aswell - what its ment to look like.... mine is gonna be darker, I feel that is far to shiney for battle ground :)

Soldiers planting flags on battlefields isn't a US only thing, so I'm gonna go ahead and say that perhaps Marines planting a flag, may have its own, Canon reasons behind it. :nuke:

Unless of course lots of the US army happened to be wearing Power Armour at the time...

(unless the things name is actually the Iwo Jima Space Marine Diorama, in which case i have some apologizing to do :nuke: )

And is it my imagination or does that example flag seem... Backwards to you?

Given the Dark Angel's mistrust of EVERYTHING (:nuke:), it looks to me as if he's trying to take it away...

DA: Back you generic fiend! Avast, ye space vampire! The overly-sealed flag is MINE! MINE I SAY!

Hehe :nuke:

Very nice model, and can't wait to see how you paint it.

True...but if thats the case, then Asmodeus' post is a 'dumb question'. So..we should compromise, and go with ignorance. =-D

I don't think its called the Iwo Jima diorama..thatd be funny,

and the test pic is backwards, and us DA don't talk like pirates. =-D

Aah yeah the poison beer I've had that many times. You'd think the pubs would get a handle on it wouldn't you? ha ha

Anyway, thats coming on nice. I'll admit to being a bit sceptical about the washes but I was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. It's very nice.

I was asking my 'dumb question' to see if this is depicting an actual specific 40k event in established fluff... not just some armies putting up a flag which I think is evident from the pictures. Now once again is this any specific scene from the 40k universe or is it just some guys from three different chapters putting up a flag?

hmm.... I dunno

anyone else?

Hey Ompfris, I really really like the way you've painted those marines. Sorry to sound arty but it's a great interpretation of classic chapter colour schemes, great work!

Oh and would you look at that, it's Beer o'clock :D

the original painting guide for SM back in Rogue Trader days had a very similar image on the front, though they were in beaky armour and the DA was a Salamander. I guess this was made as a sort of tribute to that :D

Mmm. My bad, perhaps..we should both be a bit more elaborate in our questions.

maybe its just me, but why would you spend so much or use such a hard to find piece, and just launch paint on it...those washes look quite terrible in puddles

you might as well of just dipped the pieces...you had such a great opportunity to try something new as an aside from an army...but instead you just rushed it and now it looks pretty....well, awful

it looks like you spent all of 10 minutes painting the piece so far

not trying to insult anyone, but i just dont get the whole "lets paint everything in 10 mins" approach

*** especially with limitied editions, or models bought for their "coolness"
