Looks good already. Cant wait to see them painted ;) .

Thanks! I was afraid they would look "Veteran" enough. This squad is next up on my painting table. I'll be sure to put their pictures up in the Hall of Honor once they're all finished.

They look good, but why have you given them flamers? Heavy flamers or combi flamers would be a much better choice.

I'm eventually going to upgrade the squad. I'm going to have the squad carry 2 Heavy Flamers & 3 Combi-Flamers. I need the bits for it. Once I'm able to flesh out the squad the way I want to, the 2 flamers in the squad are going to be 'demoted' for use with tactical squads. The upgrade is coming, but It's going to be a while before I can get the bits I need/want to finish the squad how I want - So for now, Flamers!

Looking good! If you don't think they look veteran enough extra purity seals are a good addition.

Thanks for the feed back. I was thinking of adding some purity seals to them & think I will do that. I've just noticed that some of them don't even have any purity seals.

Hey man, yeah looking great! They look tougher than your average tactical marine <_<

Can I ask where you get that power fist from? I see it on alsorts of marines but I've never known WHICH box it comes from! In my opinion it is THE coolest power fist <_<

hey Johnny, good job sofar ^_^

How about some of those tabards or something? That could make them look even more veteranish?

-Trajan

Thanks! You know the tabards might be what they need. I think I have a few that have purity seals on them. Since these guys are going to accompany my "Counts As" He'Stan who I've modeled with the Company Champion torso, it would tie them in with him really nice. Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of using those tabards.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! As Zephraim mentioned the Power fist I use is from the Command Squad Box. I agree it's probably the best looking power fist. I also like this one a lot too. I've equipped one of my Tactical Sergeants with it.

I like the flamer Marine pose...quite "normal" bud bada$$

What do you do against hard targets? Just hope the Pfist will do it? Why not a cm in addition to the cf? (sorry for asking this here, but I am right now in the process of re-thinking SG armament formy own unit)

Thanks! Which one in particular? The 'Lefty' or the 'Righty'? Personally the 'Righty' flamer pose is my favorite.

Well, these guys are going to be paired up with a 'Counts As' He'Stan, so I'm hoping that the Power Fist & the Power Weapon are good enough. I also plan to use these guys in a Razorback & only go after infantry/horde groups. I know that the hard targets may come to me, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed & hope that He'Stan & the Sgt. are enough to knock them out.

Ok, I've made some modifications to my trusty Sternguard Squad to make them look more like the Veterans they are. Here is an updated group shot. I just added some tabards & purity seals to them.

And now for the real treat! COMBI-FLAMERS!

I would love to know what you all think!

I like the grey paint shceme with th occasional yellow shoulder pad... :)

Very nice models and very nice combi flamers, however they seem to lack a means of igniting the promethium mixture. I love the way the sargeant is posed, sems like he is wading through the crispy corpses the rest of the squad has left behind.

Liking those Combi Flamers. :)
Very cool combis.
Juup, very nice conversions!

Thanks gentlemen! I'm glad you like them. I'm pretty pleased with them myself. I was looking at some of the tutorial threads & just about all the combi-flamer conversions I saw, were missing the Promethium tank, so I had a go at making my own. Looks like it was a success. I think there is a couple of things I could change on the next ones though...

Thanks for the complement on the Sergeant. I wanted to give him & the whole squad a certain "I'm a bad ass" feel.

LOL. Yes, I was going for a very neutral scheme with the occasional bit of randomness. I figure it should cause confusion with the enemy. I'll be painting them up as soon as I'm happy with the look of the squad & once my conversions are 100% done. Here is the scheme they're going to be painted with.

I had to cut the ignition off the flamer tip because it was blocking the line of fire from the bolter barrel. :P So we can do a few different things here:

1. Pretend the ignition is there

2. Page # 98 of the C:SM says "Flamers spew a highly volatile cloud of liquid chemicals that ignites on contact with the air." So it doesn't need the ignition source.

3. We can say that the ignition source is embedded within the flamer nozzle. An innovation made to help maintain a compact & easy to handle weapon.

In reality I'm probably going to leave the ignition source on the flamer nozzle on the next conversions, along with a small section of the flamer barrels. I'm either going to ignore the fact that the ignition source is going to get shot off by the bolter, or turn the nozzle upside down so the ignition source is at the top of the weapon. Not sure yet.

Look great to me but as I recall the Termie Honors should be on the Left shoulder only....

Hmmm... Maybe so, but personally I like having them on the right shoulder. If I could, I'd put them on the right shoulder for my Terminators too. I'm doing a DIY force, so we'll just say it's one of the ways that they are divergent from the Codex Astartes.

Yay! Combi-Flamers!

:) Now I just have to get the bits I need for the rest of the conversions. I'm going to make 2 more combi-flamers & a Heavy Flamer. I have the bits I want for the Heavy Flamer, (Multi-Melta & TDA Heavy Flamer) but I'm not sure if I want to chop up the TDA Heavy Flamer right now. I've only got 1. So if I foul up the cutting work, I'm out a Heavy Flamer, & my Terminators are going to carry a Heavy Flamer. I could always bits order another one I suppose. I have to bits order 2 Chain Fists, 2 Combi-Meltas & 4 Flamers any way, why not throw a TDA Heavy Flamer in there too...

Good evening everybody! I have a treat for you all! I've created the Heavy Flamer for my Sternguard Veteran Squad. Let me know what you think!
