BloodHawk
I have been reading some stuff around the forums and people seem to be talking about IC joining units even while accompanied by a retinue. So, my question is this. If I have a WGBL accompanied by 4 WG, can they still join a unit of grey hunters? If they can, then why can they? I looked through our codex and it specifically says that IC with Fenris wolves can still join units, but I did not see where it said that they could with a retinue of WG. Intuitively it seems like they would not be able to because they cease to be IC when they are with their retinue, and thus would not be able to join another unit. Do not get me wrong, I really want to be able to join with other units, I just want to be able to justify it to my GW buddies. Guest WG Vrox
ICs with Fen Wolves can join other units ICs with WG Retnue can not join other units as when a IC is accompanied by a Wolf Guard they form a unit of their own, and two SM units are not able to join each other. Now if at one time the WG all die off and the IC is left alone or left with just fen wolves, he is again free to join other units and must do so if he is within 2" of any unit. BloodHawk
Ok thanks, that makes sense to me. I could have sworn some guys were talking about joining a WGBL with heavy weapons, and some WG with heavy weapons, to Long Fangs. Hmm, I must have missread it. Sometimes I get a bit confused by all the acronyms, lol. OnlyInDeath
They were talking about a WGBL with a heavy weapon and fenrisian wolves joining a pack of long fangs. This way, you can use the wolves as ablative wounds and they dont count as a bodyguard (they are equipment instead, like a squig if you will), so it's a perfectly legal way to boost your long fangs survivability AND shot output. BloodHawk
Ok, I guess I did not know the acronym for Fenrisian wolves, FW. Lol, for some reason every time I saw FW I was like, what the hell is FW. That sounds like an exceedingly effective tactic. I may try that out. Guest WG Vrox
You can use it, but you have to name the wolf guard that joins the Long Fangs Vrox, sorry this is mandatory.
