Fang head
Alright, so I just bought my first predator, and I'm trying to figure out what variant I should make it. At my local gaming club, there's mostly a mixture of 'nids, Demons, CSM, Orks and a few assorted BA, DA, BT and nilla marines. Because of this, I'm leaning towards a little more balanced setup of TLLC and HB sponsons, however I just wanted to get some advice. I'm pretty new, and am most afraid of tanks, as I got reamed by a LRC the other day. Any help will be much appreciated and shall earn a tankard of ale! Ullr Direfang
well this is just my opinion but it is kinda a good one. get some small magnets and some matalic sheet metal and have the option of any layout you want. though more to your question i have heard that the auto cannon with lascannon sponsons is an all-round good layout. anti-tank/big things and enough shots to whittle down the ground troops. i am not sure if this can be done with in the new C:SM, for i have yet to buy it, but give it power of the machine spirit that way you can always shoot to guns. i personally am not happy with the new moving and shooting table for vehicals, and having a IG army, most of my vehicles can only shoot one or two guns a turn, so i would have loved to magnetize them so i wouldn't have to go through trying to pop them off. Fang head
you can do that, but I'm kind of wanting to steer away from the auto-cannon, for something that can only pop light tanks and still gives SM their cover save, it just doesn't seem to make sense. Also, only Land Raiders and their varients can take Machine Spirit now, although that is much better. B) Thanks for the reply though, and have an ale on me! The magnet idea is very good though, I'll have to see about ordering some. Dark Bjoern
The idea with magnetizing is a good one. I had done this with all of my three preds and i´m very happy with the flexibility. I use a dakka pred (Autocannon/HB) against hord armies like nids and orks and the Annihilator with three lascannons against MC and vehicles heavy armies. Had worked very well in the past for me. Fang head
I know it's been posted somewhere, but what website do you guys get your rare earth magnets from? Inquisitor 117
As far as your turret goes, you dont even have to use magnets. Just dont glue it down and if you decide to use TLLC or Auto you can rotate between them. It never hurts to stay flexable with your list. Grey Mage
I personally use the TLLC w/ Hvy Bolters and extra armor and Stormbolter. It comes in at a nice 145 pts. It gives you the shots to take on hordes, the punch to take out tanks, and good all around range. The extra armor lets it maneuver even if shot at. I find it very effective against hordes, and good at popping tanks against power armored armies. The Str5 allows me to wound most marines on threes, and even if they do have a 3+ save I have plenty of shots to send their way. Its also extra for things such as sider armor on light tanks, light tanks, skimmers, and attack bikes.... Youd be suprised how often that kind of thing comes up. I really do reccommend it. Ive yet to see an all lascannon pred that could hit the broadside of a barn. I dont know why but its a running joke at the LGS. The destructor on the other hand seems a little underpowered to me. *spreads hands*. Just one wolfs opinion. Guest WG Vrox
I agree for an all around good Pred, the AC/with LC Spons is the best setup for points. Considering its only 15points more than a TLLC pred that is. However for horde armies, the points of a AC / HB is really really attractive, heck you can bring two of these for the price of one tricked out TLLC / LC spon tank. As we all know, you make marines roll enough saves and someones gunna die. My new favorite setup on Land Speeders is HB/HB. I take two LSs thats 12 shots hitting and wounding on 3s, gets a few marines everytime and for horde armies it's murder.
