greatcrusade08
Hi guys i had a query that i hope you can clear up: Say im shooting bolters at someone, do i declare rapid fire shooting before i measure the distance, or do i declare im firing and measure and if they are within 12" just fire twice??? I think its a little ambiguous and was wondering if anyone had the rulebook to hand? Souchan
Rapid fire weapons rapid fire, no need to declare anything other than that you are shooting and which models are doing so. Any model found outside of 12" but within max range may only fire if it didn't move and any model within 12" will fire twice, no holding back(except of course, if you said the model wasn't going to shoot). For those within 12" it doesn't matter if they moved. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152430-rapid-fire/#findComment-1775551 Share on other sites

Praeger
be aware that complications can occur in this case and its best to roll the difrent distance seperate. Why? rapid fire = 12" and casualties MUST be ONLY taken from this range BUT If you have a few 24" shots going on as well, then the casualties can now be taken from 24" for these wounds. Trekari
That is not true. Casualties are taken as a unit, regardless of whether a model was technically in range of the weapon or not. Pg 24, BRB Note that any model in the target unit can be hit, wounded and taken off as a casualty, even models that are completely out of sight or out of range of all of the firers. nighthawks
trekari has it. in 4th, this was at times a nightmare scenario. now, the casualty rules don't seem to make much sense, but they do play faster and more simply. Disistablishmentarianism
I actually don't have the 4th ed rulebook yet  never got round to it, but fear not I'm getting AoBR soon. That's what I do, measure out (if they moved, only to 12") and if they're within 12" rapid fire the xenos scum.
