Muskie
Bell of Lost Souls has a report, I think the guy who wrote it came 5th over all. He played against a Chaos army with two Lash Deamon Princes, two vindicators, a greater deamon, bezerkers and plaguemarines both in a rhino that's about it... Brother Drakist
Found some info on these armies in case anyone is wondering: Jeremy Constance, (8th Overall) Quite interesting Chaos list he described as “monster mash”. Dual lashing DPs, Greater Daemon, Landraider, two Defilers, three Dreads with 2 CCW & heavy flamer, three 5 man Icon of Glory CSM squads in Rhinos, and a pack of 5 lesser daemons. Mike Mutscheller, Chaos Space Marines His army included a lash prince, a lash sorcerer on a bike, three squads of CSMs with the Mark of Khorne, 5 lesser daemons, 6 oblits, and a land raider. Both use dual lash. I thought dual lash was considered cheesy? Also, it sounds like that first list is powergaming to the extreme, with only a very small amount of points (bare minimum?) spent on troops. Then again, I'm not sure if army composition even matters anymore as long as your points are right. Also 5 lesser demons, sounds like they are more about capturing objectives than actually winning a combat. the jeske
I thought dual lash was considered cheesy? nope its considered normal for a chaos list . chaos = dual lash . just like eldar = eldrad. Muskie
The Americans and the British Grand Tournaments are pretty much kill or be killed by any means necessary at least at the top tables. The American one is a little better at rewarding painting, that has also been minimized in the UK. There are still some just for fun gamers, but you won't see many of them near the top at these tournaments. Some places even label the tournaments "fun" and "competative". Shouldn't all tournaments be fun and competitive? Up in Canada well mostly we have a lot of points for comp and sometimes wacky lists do well. That dual deamon prince minimum troop choice army is min/max it takes advantages of underpointed stuff and is there for cheesy. I heard he had bezerkers and plaguemarines, though maybe there was another twin lash deamon prince army in Baltimore... I still say more complicated missions and more complicated terrain stops some of these problems, but just frowning upon anti-fun lists and tactics also helps. Five lesser deamons is a valid tactical choice. It can't kill anything but it can contest or occuppy and objective, lots of other armies have cheap high movement troop choices. The cheapest scoring unit possible in Chaos is 5 lesser deamons. I've pretty much decided to always squeeze in a small squad, but for stuff I want dead I'm thinking at least 10 lesser deamons and even then, they are not elite close combat troops, not under the current rules, so don't throw them up against any enemy close combat or elite troops the deamons will loose. They can't even take plaguemarines... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152469-baltimore-gt-looking-for-info/#findComment-1782131 Share on other sites
DevianID
The dual lash with plagues and bezerkers was generaled by guy named alex I believe. Most Chaos there that did not have 2 lash did have at least one lash--there was a beautiful egyptian themed army with lots of thousand sons that still had one lash as the only non-tzeench marked model, he worked it very well though, and to say his list was not fluffy would be an insult. He had multiples of 9 right down to his kill points! Also, as to lesser daemons, for 15 points more you get a chaos squad with a flamer, and then you can buy another rhino on the cheap. I suppose if your really slammed for points then it might make a little sense, but with rhinos being as good as they are taking as many rhinos as possible is usually a worthwhile endeavor. Muskie
The deamons can deep strike, kinda. Rhinos are better than they were, but 5 lesser deamons is still the cheapest scoring unit. Period! Having had that squad in a tournament, I can assure you it is a good babysitter squad, so good infact I plan to convert up some special models just for this purpose... I think lesser deamons have a place in chaos tournament armies. They add variety and they can be a psychological blow, the fact that they are not elite close combat troops anymore is unfortunante... Dual lash, so unorthodox! Just kinda made me giggle. It is too bad most of the big tournaments in the states are attended by super-tight, points-efficient clone lists. I have especially noticed that lately with CSM! Just starting building mine and I am preparing for lots of people to approach me and tell me how inefficient it is because I don't have dual lash princes in my World Eaters army. Just the fact that 'dual lash princes' has become such a common phrase makes me sad in my Chaos pants. - Blackbone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152469-baltimore-gt-looking-for-info/#findComment-1784363 Share on other sites
the jeske
Dual lash, so unorthodox! Just kinda made me giggle. trust me in a tough tournament setting having two lash doesnt make for an auto win army [on the other hand playing with dreads , defilers etc is very very unortodox]. I have especially noticed that lately with CSM! because there is one , maybe two ways to play and three army build to do it with . no wonder people play with same list . in the old dex you could make 5 different lists [game play] , there were mix lists and many army builds [am talking here about stuff that worked . I dont count 1ksons as an army]. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152469-baltimore-gt-looking-for-info/#findComment-1785204 Share on other sites
