arctica
Well i have been trying to go for more contrast in my painting, improving my NMM, blending and trying to be more patient with my painting. I think with this techmarine i have learnt alot about my own style and learning about the techniques etc. Also trying to look more at focal points on minis since the techmarine and the majority of gamesworkshop models are so detailed. Anyway enough of my waffle, enjoy the mini, any comments and criticisms to help me improve are always very welcome. http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/8303/pict0583ja4.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/6725/pict0582my1.jpg http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/8021/pict0579zn0.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/152643-techmarine/ Share on other sites
risK
Red is a difficult color to highlight. Mostly it turns orange or pink, but you truely mastered it. Your red is awesome! It has a very metallic, nearly coppery feeling to it and suits the Adeptus Mechanicus Mars very well. Any chances on a red tutorial? Marovingean
I agree the red is excellent, did you go straight up to almost pure white, with a little bit of red mixed in? metcalfedan
Direct Order is IMHO by far the best Techmarine model. And you've done wonders with it! Great paint job! arctica
Wow, thanks for all the really nice comments. I actually have a tutorial/wip posted up on this model Click Here! on another website. I hope that helps. But for those who don't want to click, i used a base coat of scab red and worked up to blood red and then used bleached bone as the final highlights on the mini. I didn't want to use pure skull white as a highlight on the model because i was recommended by someone that it could look too pink if i did that. All in all im happy with the final look of the mini. @metcalfedan: im quite certain this isn't the direct order techmarine, and anyway i prefer this one  @fatesealer: i don't think you can buy him alone. I haven't even touched the servitors lol, but this model was given to me anyway. @apocalypse: there are actually no chapter markings on this guy. I hadn't decided which i wanted to do but read that adeptus mechanicus were primarily red armour so it was all done in red. @captain malachi: on B&C i have only posted this other model, Ultramarine Honour Guard I thought i'd only post display type models here  but enjoy. I will post more when i get round to it but im a slow painter. I want to thank everyone for the nice comments, its very encouraging. I will do my best to keep you all interested !.
