Sisters Of Battle Starting Point

Fiirst off...

Which "Sisters of Battle" squad box are you talking about? 5-model box, or 10-model box?

Two 5-model boxees will get you one standard squad, while buying the 10 model box will give you a standard squad (although you'd probably want to buy better special weapons).

Second: You're probably better off getting a Canoness instead. Get a canoness with a clsoe combat weapon in her hand, or just pick an appropriate Sister Superior model and paint/convert her armor to be more ornate. The Canoness has more synergy with the Sisters than most Inquisitors.

As for how many points?

Assuming you take the squads as they are out of the box, without purchasing extra special weapons carriers (I reccomend meltagun and heavy flamer, both of which you will have to purcahse separately), then that'll end up at around... roughly 150 points per squad, if you use veteran sister superiors with power weapon + botl pistol and a book of st lucius.

The Inquisitor Lord and Retinue set will depend on how exactly you build it.

The standard box tends towards an assaulty inquisitor... I would estimate it at roughly... 250 points perhaps? Depends on how you build it, as I said, but it won't necessarilly be all that great with just the models out of the box (in fact, it's practicly guarenteed to not be good).

For a Canoness, that would similarly depend on how you build her, again. Assuming you want a footslogging force, then a canoness with retinue (buy a pack of Battle Sister models and a couple models with flamers) might cost 200-250 points, depending on how large you make the retinue and what you equip it with.

So all in all, around 500 points, depending on how you build it.

As much as I love my Inquisitor and her retinue, Melissia has several good points. I had to acquire and bitz order specific models to get my retinue the way I wanted (for example, I wanted 2 chiurgeons... that was a bitz order. Then a specific model for my combat servitor, extra crusader, etc). It's also a little more awkward in terms of rules. A Cannoness is more simple and forgiving. Once you know what you're doing though, my Inquisitor has lived through pretty much every game she's in because of my retinue and how I constructed it.

Now, there's nothing that says you can't start with a substandard retinue and improve upon it as you get experience with modelling and time to add to your collection! In fact, it could be a fun way to go.. literally watching the retinue grow as your Inquisitor gets more experience (and you do too). Just bear in mind that it wouldn't be as effective right out of the gate as a Cannoness (speaking of which, I need to get off my butt and model my Cannoness idea myself). That and Inquisitors don't give faith points...

I would also recommend a unit of Seraphim. They're... simply indespensible, and glorious models. The 5 model Seraphim box is a great investment. Sisters have to be in units of 10-20 models for a troops choice. Stormtroopers are 5-10 though, so you can get cheap troops using them instead (money wise).

Starting with a Cannoness, 2 10 model Battle Sisters troops choices, and a 5 model Seraphim starter box wouldn't be half bad. As Melissia stated adding a blister pack or two for an additional 4 or 6 sisters as Celesian bodyguard for the Cannoness is a good investment. Make sure you get some meltaguns for anti-tank and you should be fine for small games. I run my 10 sister squad with a Vet. Sister Superior with power weapon, boltpistol, book of st. lucius, then a sister with a heavy flamer and a sister with a meltagun. My other basic troop choice is usually 10 Inquisitorial Stormtroopers with two grenade launchers, but I'm a little non-standard

plus GW canceled the bitz ordering system so building a good INQ. retinue is a pain. A canoness is cheaper and adds more faith (MUCHO IMPORTANT) to your army plus consider taking rhinos. Change the specials as stormbolter/flamer not that great but meltagun and heavy flamer is som much better and the vss (IMO) is horrible in the box set, plasma pistol & chain sword (eviscerator) not worth the points.....bolter & book so much better. Seraphim a must if you give the canoness a jump pack or buy an immolator and stick her in it and charge at the emey and jump out and zap something....works great if canoness armed with a bolter meltagun combi weapon

Seraphim a must if you give the canoness a jump pack . . .

Ah yes, the Flying Nun of Doom. This gets a lot of discussion over in the Inquisition Project. And there was me wondering why people thought it appeared regularly. :)

cheers guys but Deamon Hunters have tipped the balance or Deamons themselves lol Do you know how tall a grey knight is???

Is it the same size as a terminator???

A GK is the same size as a normal Space Marine. A GK Terminator is the same size as a SM Terminator. See the models. GKs may be more skilled than a standard Space Marine, yes, but that doesn't mean they spend all the time in the gym turning into a Space Marine equivalent of the Incredible Hulk.

Cheers All And Im Back On Track For My Witch Hunters Im Thinking Canoness Possible Some Witch Hunter Henchmen Definetly 1 10 Trooper Squad and it between an Immolater Or Two £8 Bits packs which will leave me with Another 6 Sisters for a second squad

does this sounds good or not?

Nope it doesn't.

Immolator carries 6 squad members, minimum Battle Sister Squad size is 10. In otherwords, the minimum amount of models you can have in a pure Sisters army is 21 (10x troops, 10x troops, 1x HQ). If you want transports, get a couple rhinoss, give your Canoness a Celestian Retineu, and then give HER the immolator.

You also could take the Immolator as a Heavy Support choice, and take a small 5 man stormtrooper squad. Stormtroopers can be fielded from 5 to 10 models. On a budget at the beginning that may be more feasible than the 10 to 20 model Battle Sisters squads.
Im Completely Stuck Now Between Chaos MArines Chaos Daemons Or The Witch Hunters What Would you Go for coz at christmas ive got £50 to spend on one of these armys

Get back to me guys

Steve

Daemons of course :) besides, they're cheap, which is good.

What? I own a small Guard and Ork army as well, it's a decent way to make sure that I have armies for friends to use if they come over and I can convince them to play. Besides that, the CD army is a rather unique army in both looks and playstyle. Quite different in comparison to SM/CSM, both of whom are to me are overdone blah armies.
All righty, far too much talk of turning to Daemon worship here. Its time to clean house! *Speed dials Titan Fortress-Monastery* :D

Khorne will protect me! Hang on, it's Tzeentch who gives the better invulnerable save....oh sh-*dies*

So I'd just overwhelm you with my ORk Hordes instead?

Why yes, my Canoness is charismatic and awesome enough that the Orks see her as their "Warlaydee"! (or will be once I get enough models for Apocalypse B))

Orks under the Emperor's banner. That's new.

And if they don't obey, I can always just pop one of them with my inferno pistol, reminding them who's the meanest one around :P

Not really. Look at the early blood axes, imperial equipment and often fought as mercs for imperial forces.

Don't mind me.. there's nothing to see here, move along... ^_^
